Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

That would have been the only reason he would have taken this job in the first place. But it has to make you wonder. If Renault and Williams (to an extent) think he is just not quick enough, what will other teams think/do?
He is turning 34 this year, so not many more F1 years ahead, with the best probably behind him
I still feels he deserves a spot on the grid in a decent team

That seems like a mightly impressive time from the Haas. Just with tyres alone they clearly have a sub 1.18 car, consider that their fastest time was 1.20.5 in last years testing. They have a car that appears to be at least 3 seconds quicker going from those times alone...

i dont think any driver is cursed but the major problem with that car is not enough cooling. Its the size zero concept and it hard to get enough cooling. i hope they sort out their issues but its getting very late
Not sure cooling causes it to throw oil all over the track.... twice?
less cooling means higher oil temperatures, which means higher pipe temperatures and lower strength

Haliltons second stint;:

1:58.7 (Outlap) - 1:22.5 - 1:21.5 - 1:21.4 - 1:21.3 - 1:21.6 - 1:21.3 - 1:20.6 - 1:20.8 - 1:20.5 - 1:20.6 - 1:20.6 - 1:20.6 - 1:20.8 - 1:21.0 - 1:20.8 - 1:20.7 - Inlap (1:20.8).

Not sure which tire.
The consistency once he got down to 1.20.6 over the remaining laps is just incredible, like clockwork. Wow. Merc have a real beast in 2018. I fear they're going to blow everyone away. James Allison really wasn't kidding when he said this car would obliterate last years car.
Imagine if the car last year was a not a diva with underpants full of handling demons. The season would have been over somewhat sooner.

I have to wonder if an easier to setup car that stays in its window easier might bring Bottas into the mix over the season.

If the car is so dominant I hope so, because we need Bottas to be the new Rosberg.

Why do you hope to have another boring champioship? I hope to have MB, RB, Ferrari and McLaren at the same level

I don’t understand how this shows poor pace for Ferrari then - I made Vettel’s average 1:21.4.

I watched Vettel last night on Teds notebook and he looked just about ready to explode with excitement under that calm exteria he tried to show on camera.

If Ferrari were way behind Vettel would give it away (a bit like when the RBR of 2014 was testing).

I don’t think we can say they are outright fastest, but they are certainly bang in the mix and have looked very assured all week.
I think Vettel wasn't on Ted's notebook yesterday. Do you mean the paddock uncut?

Speaking of body language, if you watch an interview of last year testing week 2, the body langauge of Vettel was quite the same as in this yesterday's video. Serious and calm.

How did you arrive at an average of 1:21.4 if 29 of the 66 laps he did were between 1:23.x and 1:22.x and the other half were in the 1:21.x with only few dipping below? Or did you only average his last stint?

PS: I am not sure what the point is of comparing averages anyway. Much better would be to compare comparable stints with each other to get comparable numbers for similar fuel loads on the same tires. Comparing Bottas and Hamilton would be rather interesting too.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II
