I dont see much difference. Those pics show the Haas with a bit more steering lock, so that is not a great way to measure.
You may be right. Hamilton's race pace in testing was nearly 4 seconds faster than he managed in the race. Let's say 1.7 of those seconds is due to the tarmac, another .4 because of the softer rubber. That leaves nearly 2 seconds down to the chassis, so let's say pole improves by 1.8 seconds, or a 1:20.3. That would put fastest race lap in the 24's which means this year the cars are the fastest they've ever been, even the cars from the re-fueling days are slower in race pace.
A car that is faster by 2 seconds in race, is also going to be faster by only 2 seconds in qualifying? With all the power modes that are used in qualifying and fresh set of tyres, meant for just one fast lap?godlameroso wrote: ↑12 Mar 2018, 04:12You may be right. Funny to think that in football terms Charles Leclerc is 3 times more likely to win this seasons WDC than Leicester were to win the league in 2016... still little point in putting a fiver on him!TAG wrote: ↑11 Mar 2018, 18:27Lewis Hamilton 10/11

I'd like to think of it as, an epic three way battle for the final podium step, numerous position changes between 3rd, 4th & 5th, a'la MotoGP style battle. Rather than a conga line.
The potential scales, look at all the race fastest laps by Hamilton and compare his q3 time, it's right around a 4 second difference, and around 2 second difference from fastest P2 time.GPR-A wrote: ↑12 Mar 2018, 05:48A car that is faster by 2 seconds in race, is also going to be faster by only 2 seconds in qualifying? This would be an interesting way to start the season!
I would take if that continues until Summer break, where Verstappen would be leading hamilton by 25 to 30 points. We would see another dog chase.
Yeah a Mercedes battle with Red Bull for the WDC would be against the drivers unlike the Mercedes battle with Ferrari which is against Vettel, Ferrari and the FiA.
