Aston Martin Red Bull Racing TAG Heuer RB14

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Isn't that a single or even a double air intake under the nose? I found the nose already to be quite thin in height. Now we got a whole new look on that. Was that featured already on RB13, and do other teams have that?

Edit: Just find this image of RB13.

Same thing, but on the RB14 they really seem to have been able to theighten it up big time, in terms of total height.

Looks like quite a bit of Mercedes influence taking place there.

Kind of exptected, as a Senior Aero-Guy from Mercedes joined the team at the beginning of this year.

Here you can see where the x wing broke off and how it has been patched and (temporarily?) reinforced very clearly.

I hope that those brackets that they pasted all over the car get refined. We will see

It may be less draggy but it also creates much more lift, that's why we have undercut sidepods to start with.
No this tapered in side pod shape actually doesn't create more lift. I have verified this a couple years ago.
Teams have undercut mostly because of space constraints. But undercut creates more lift around the body. Its benefit is that it is allow a lot more air to the back of the car.. but if you can have the same footprint as the undercut and still taper inward as you go up.. you have the best of both worlds; the problem is just packaging all the radiators.
For Sure!!

I may be crazy, but to me that looks like the same front wing photographed from a slightly different angle, with some gurney flaps on it.
