Formula 1: Russian GP wants to bring back 'grid girls' for race in September
Given the governments stance on sexuality, it's hardly surprising!johnny comelately wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 21:14From the BBC- http://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/43661258

Well said, but you've taken out all the romanceAngusF1 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2018, 05:44About time! One of F1's key appeals is that it presents, in an unusually pure form , idealisations of masculine and feminine humanity which occasionally border on caricature.
For men, the image is of hyper-competent alpha males engaging in a thing-focussed, winner-takes-most competition of physical, technical and political rivalry.
For women, the image is of beauty, youth and physical perfection which then selects the winners.
Further, the relationship between these two ideals over the course of the Grand Prix weekend is an act of theatre representing archetypal truths about human relationships. The men present themselves to the women on the grid who pretend to hold their umbrellas but are really 'inspecting' them to evaluate their quality, the men engage in ruthless competition, then the winners are rewarded with the company and attention of *all* the women on the walk up to the podium. This story is as old as time and F1 remained one of the few acts left presenting this structure in its correct format.
To prohibit one of these images is to illegalise one half of a whole, leaving the other unbalanced and lacking in context, and obliterates the archetypal structure of the Formula 1 Grand Prix theatre.
The ban is very much in line with the "progressive" fad popular among the left in the USA which denies gender differences, ignores or is wilfully blind to foundational human archetypal structures and twists both men and women into poor imitations of men. While the ideology has caught on in the rest of the anglosphere, thankfully the rest of the world isn't so far gone.
It can not be the old days, I remember then wellNathanOlder wrote: ↑09 Apr 2018, 11:14![]()
Cant wait for Monaco. It will be like "the good old days"
Big wide overpowered Cars, glamorous women on the grid, macho men behind the wheels of the beasts trying to kill them.
Sounds like the 1970's. Which if I'm correct are the good old days.
Well said AngusF1AngusF1
