McLaren MCL33

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

In the 2nd picture there is atachment point on the sidepod, is that from old BB or for something new?

These are the mounting Points for the Old Version. They just didn't make new Sidepods for the new Items.

Did we just not see that whole section at the front edge and below the kimoa bardge board cause its normally hidden by the tire or is that new? The piece that looks like a hand grip.

I still don't see any legality-cuts in the floor ... am i missing something? And by that i mean in both meanings, not seeing and lack of rule knowledge...
No need to have legality cuts in the outer 100mm of the floor anymore.

Check out Article 3.7.9 b):
In an area lying 700mm or less from the car centre plane, and from 450mm forward of the plane C-C to 350mm forward of the rear wheel centre line, any intersection of any bodywork visible from beneath the car with a lateral or longitudinal vertical plane should form one continuous line which is visible from beneath the car.
(the floor can extend up to 800mm from the car centre plane)

Every car has that area raised to some extent, it's the same concept the raised noses had back in 2012/13, more airflow to the diffuser. It's almost like a ground effect craft, but with a diffuser on the trailing end.

This sidepod deflector looks so basic. I believe they are trying to understand the whole sidepod deflector concept better in this couple of races.

They've probably just fitted what will work with the current package until the bigger updates are ready (nose+sidepods)
