track layout helps more than prenious 4 ...p7 realistic target and if someone of big tree have problems higher ...and one stop for the race...i have feeling for p5 quali and higher for the race ..
So you predict p5 for quali. so that means the mclaren has to qualify ahead of one of the top teams. mer, ferrari or redbull. that a interesting prediction. ok i keep a note of this. for me its difficult to say which order mclarn fits in

A new front wing alone can bring 0,5 sec. According to Marca the package was around 1 sec quicker in the simulator (two races ago). I'm pretty sure McLaren is just being careful.

Exactly!
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

anyone want to predict the qualifying order in spain? This will be interesting. as some smaller teams might not bring big upgrades will fall back
Given the size of the updates other teams are rumoured to be bringing, I'm going to hope the Mclaren package gives them 3-4 tenths towards Red Bull/Ferrari (and part of that in qualy will be the slight Renault power increase), they'd be doing very well indeed if it's more than that, even the midfield guys are bring a lot of parts to Barcelona.

from what i read most other teams are bringing tweaks to their current aero. unlike mclaren who are bringing a massive aero update starting from a new nose. it will be interesting to watch the order after qualifying.

Yes, the former is easier than the latter to get working straight away however.

It's going to be interesting, there's certainly a lot of cases going out for shipping!

I wish they would go back to a 'Sith' like livery like in the mid 90s. Lots of Grey, Silver, Black, Red Speedmarks. KMag would fit in just fine with his harsh moves. Pastor as well. :D

Not sure they would go narrow nose as it does not work well

If the fastest Mclaren manages to qualify within 0.7 sec of the fastest Red Bull in a track like Barcelona, it will be a huge huge achievement.
It will be the first outing of the package, the setup can't be perfectly refined in three practice sessions and they will relay a lot in their correlation rate.
They will have time to gather data and evaluate their setup options farther during the race and at the followup test.
If they are within 0.7 sec of the fastest RB in Qualify i will be 100% satisfied. And i will be eager to see afterwards if they are even closer on race pace.

0.7s from slowest RB to fastest McL on race trim would be already quite a feat, I think

I am told there are incorrect claims in that AMuS article, one of which is their claim Mclaren had 2 development teams, one for 2018 aero package one for season start.
Only 1 team.

Stop acting like you know someone, you're just taking the tweets of the McLaren aero guy.

Dunno what u get out from all this man. If the upgrade fails to deliver u will be spamming his mailbox, tweet feed. Give it a rest, sit back and enjoy the ride. Its not like the guy is working on the nose or front wings. Besides that guy has way too much time to read and reply while working.
I for one will be cautious about this new episode of new hope for Mclaren fans. They spent last three years perfecting this nose and front wing philosophy; i dont think this concept will be maximised immediately, so please pump the brakes before the walls come crashing down.
