Why welded exhausts and not mandrel bent? :?: :?:

Don't expect too much really. Knowing from previous seasons, they don't normally bring any big updates, just refinement of what they already have.
Last season they introduced the cape and the serrated floor with vertical elements at Barcelona, I'd call that a rather significant update

Agreed - the last few years they've brought damn near a B spec car to Spain

also kinda strange that they brought a complete chassis to a race. dont they usually build the car from scratch every race?

Could have something to do with proximity to UK and their home base. Probably advantages to building it there and shipping it over? Just an idea.

On a video they did last year, they said they ship the car around like this. The car is rebuilt from scratch in the factory.
They then just have to bolt bits and pieces at the race venue rather than rebuild an entire car.

Makes shipping much easier instead of packaging it in thousands of boxes

And also because in most races the car comes by plane and not by truck from the factory

A big part of me is expecting there to be no visual changes in the 'upgrade'. Which will be really disappointing given the crazy mirrors and wings seen on the Ferrari package.

The while some teams want to blow the rear wing Mercedes goes out of their way to keep their distance.

I wonder what are the benefits of such a design.

I think Adrian Newey said there is no point in blowing the wing, as there is not enough 'energy' to do so without there being a negative impact elsewhere. Ferrari seem to have got around this with the special things they are doing to get around the electrical energy limits.

Bending that size pipe would be too much internals stresses. It would crack after a short time in the heat.

I’m suprised they use pie cuts elbows for their exaust system and not a 3D printed piece as they used a pretty neat one in that area last season. There wasn’t an as dramatic change of direction than this year. That souldn’t be a game changer after the turbine but pie cuts does still create more turbulences. Looks like a bit of weird cost saving to me.
