I think the gap between Merc and Ferrari is pretty tight in general and they've shown an excellent ability to dial their car in when most needed. I'd be very surprised if Ferrari aren't close to Pole tomorrow.

I agree. Ferrari's overnight work is impressive. They're the only ones who can squeeze the maximum out of the softer compounds when its needed.

The Bulls look to be a match for the Mercedes on the harder tires. They look better on the softer tires. Qualifying will be huge for them tomorrow.

I am pretty sure that Ferrari will qualify in front of RB. Race-pace is another thing, this race must be quite close between the top-3.

Which at this point is the different between slow and slower. I wonder how Williams have gotten it so wrong. Kubica’s comments about the drivability of the car are also telling. Apparently his simulator work did not prepare him at all for the car, which suggests a pretty big offset between design and the real thing.

Watching the free practice it seems everyone was having stability issues at the rear so I don't think it's too big of a problem. It's supposed to be a bit cooler tomorrow which will probably help a bit.

Stoffel had one run on the SS, which started off well in the high 22s but then the lap times were all over the place.

He then had another stint on the softs doing low 23s (Alo was doing low 23s on the medium as well).

Pace on the soft/medium was similar or slightly better than Force India.The big three teams were in the mid 21s on the softs.

This trend began last year when, for the first time in years, Ferrari was hidding some potential, or at least being better on Saturdays and Sundays. This year this trend is even stronger as we see how the team can extract much more potential from the car when they find the correct set-up.

This trend began last year when, for the first time in years, Ferrari was hidding some potential, or at least being better on Saturdays and Sundays. This year this trend is even stronger as we see how the team can extract much more potential from the car when they find the correct set-up.

But they can't just take wrong direction and then finding the solution overnight in every GP. I think it's safe to say that they are sandbagging on Fridays.

It indeed is impressive how much Ferrari improves from Friday to Saturday. I can remember when in Bahrain after FP2 Toto told they were not worried about Ferrari's strong pace since they were running a higher engine mode. At the end Ferrari still did an even bigger jump performance wise than Mercedes from Friday to Saturday.

Let's see how much teams will improve this time tomorrow.
