Good for him, at least for today. Must be really motivating for a driver that is it´s first time in this track with an F1 machine, with a car that have just a few improvement in the last 2 races, with an "GP2 Engine" been only .107 of a second slower of a double world champion, with one of the best chassis of the grip, a big aero updated and a better PU. Umm interesting.

Looks good so far. I only hope both can escape the start without any damage or accidents...

I think the reason maybe Hartley is performing well here is because he raced in Macau a few times I think...

Lets see if the performance tomorrow is the same or best 😁

Hartley has a podium and 4th place finish in Monaco when he was racing in FR 3.5, so I would think he is quite good at this track. Gasly however has subpar finishes in his GP2 races here.

Extremely talented.... But almost as dirty a rider as he is talented.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

That's why I compared to HAAS driver as a joke. However, how many riders become successful drivers in F1 History?! Would love to see how he perform but not holding my hopes up.

Naaaah... Used to love Casey Stoner, he fell out of love with the sport, then so did I. But I watch from time to time, some of the manoeuvres Marc makes are so unnecessary and dangerous, he literally sometimes uses his opponents to break/slow down. He's got way to much talent to get involved with some of the things he gets into. He's clearly the best out there all the more perplexing..... But that's way off topic, apologies.

It is an advertising campaign. He has no other reasons.
In the same way it is a nice experience for Marquez and Pedrosa. :)

They brought update to monaco
Hartley wound up Free Practice 2 in 11th position in his Honda-powered STR13, one place better than he'd managed in FP1, and ahead of team mate Pierre Gasly, who finished 14th in both sessions. The day marked the first outing for both Toro Rosso drivers in Formula 1 machinery around the Monaco track.

It’s a special feeling around here, dancing from wall to wall.
Brendon Hartley
“It was a really positive day," Monaco resident Hartley said at the end of Thursday's running. "It’s awesome to drive around Monaco for the first time in a Formula 1 car. It’s a special feeling around here, dancing from wall to wall. In terms of performance, I think straight away we were in the top 10 on the hypersoft. We finished the morning P12, but running on the harder compound tyre, which looked positive.

"In the afternoon, I was 11th on the hypersoft, which is promising. It’s very close to the cars ahead and also the cars behind. We’re definitely in the fight, and the goal has to be Q3."

Gasly, whose Toro Rosso was fitted with updated aero parts which Hartley will be able to use from Free Practice 3 on Saturday, was similarly optimistic about his chances of achieving a Q3 spot, despite finishing around two-tenths off his team mate in both of Thursday's practice sessions.

"We tried a couple of things today, and at the moment I think it’s really close between P7 to the back of the field, so it will be super tight this weekend," said the Frenchman. "I didn’t really find the right settings to feel fully comfortable with the car, so I’m a bit out of sync at the moment. But Brendon looks pretty good, so we’re probably going to work and analyse more tonight to try and find the best package.

"The car seems to be fast, so if we manage to find two or three tenths, I think we can fight to be in the top 10 - that will be the target for us to work towards tomorrow.”

Hartley will be hoping for a strong result in Monaco to regain some momentum on team mate Gasly, who has impressed with strong performances so far in 2018, most notably a brilliant fourth place at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Hartley currently has one point to Gasly's 12 in the drivers' standings.

In qualifying terms, reaching the top 10 would be a first for the New Zealander in 2018, with Hartley's previous best grid spot being his 11th place in Bahrain.

Too early to say but if the temps go up further TR looks to be in a good place. Need to be lucky with traffic, P5 is possible. Always knee James Key was the man with a solid car with good mechanical grip and dynamics.
