Monaco track layout.

Post

Does anyone have more knowledge of the streets around Monaco.
Interest in seeing if it's possible to extend the track to have a longer section just after climbing the hill.
Going straight at turn 4 instead of right to the current turn 5. Turn right later to develop a straight into the hairpin turn 6. To create an overtaking move at both the new turn 4. 5 would be whatever is needed to get a good straight onto turn 6.

Also I would get rid of the 15 and 16 and which would open 17 to more overtaking

Just give them a couple of joker laps where they can cut the chicane or something.

Yeah. More artificial show elements. That is what we need....

i was thinking on that line. After watching Rally cross i was deeply impressed by the joker lap system...would be really cool if done properly in F1

Looking at Monaco on Google Map with 3d and buildings showing, one could make two or three different layouts but they would seriously change the track. Might even need a rethink on the pits/start finish straight, for example. Or turn left before the tunnel and extend along to a hairpin before coming back to the tunnel. The latter might allow cars to get close enough to allow a pass in to the chicane, especially if DRS is allowed between the hairpin and the tunnel.

The problem, really, is that Monaco is like a go-kart track to modern F1 cars. They're just too quick for it to work as a race track for them.

Ooh, there's an idea - run the Monaco GP in different cars. A spec car that allows overtaking on the street circuit. We'd also see who really is the best drivers then...
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

This is portier this year, as you can see there is some space available, maybe racing could be a bit easier if this part of the track was a bit larger...Like this :

With this new track layout a driver can take a larger trajectory to improve his speed during the long straight to make the move. If a driver is taking a larger trajectory to defend during the straight, the driver behind can also dive bomb on the inside to make the move.

I hope this loads up because I can only do it quickly.

But can't they go left at Portier, around the loop (with the blue waterfall thing) and back towards the tunnel? A) Make it a wide right angle would offer a slow overtaking spot when going left, and B) maybe allow cars to get closer for the longer straight (a little like luffield at silverstone)

Then for the last corner go straight and more of a right angle onto the main straight, as opposed to the tight narrow turn there is now

One thing I noticed during the race is that the chicane after the tunnel could be dramatically opened up giving 2 cars tons of room there to try and pass.

When cars blow that chicane and go over the curbs, there are suddenly huge overtaking opportunities there that don't really exist staying on course.

How about getting rid of the chicane or re-configuring that big area after the tunnel and before the narrow rundown to Tabac?

Could make things interesting. I guess the argument against is safety, as they want to slow the cars down coming out of the tunnel.

I still think something could be done in that area to give 2 cars room to fight each other in that area.
