Now.. if only NASA could be an Formula E tech-partner with the FIA, then electromotive potential-wise..
we'd really be - 'cooking with gas' - so to speak..

the drive will be using DC power even when producing the AC motor supply at a notional OV rms and 0 Hz
somewhat as your audio system amplifier consumes power even when you aren't giving it a signal to amplify
If you don't understand anything about it why make utter BS up.

Yes the inverter will consume some power at 0 speed but only in its control circuitry as it won't be switching current to the motor. The few 10s of Watts of that is near nothing compared to motor power..........
This is true. Can't imagine why would someone think that a motor that's not used is using power.

I think when the accelerator is reading 0% that the EM/drive characteristic is to resist typical rollback or rollforward
and this would require additional electrical power
There's no such characteristic. They need to purposefully implement something to do this as Skippon have implied. Otherwise it's only the motors very little inertia and friction that mitigates rolling.

Dunno 'bout that, since almost 1/2 a century ago, Hollywood depicted a 'futuristic' electromotive machine treating
both Ford & Honda's latest ICE-powered pursuit vehicles.. with "contempt", but somehow, it didn't 'catch on'...

Actually mzso, if you check the NASA fuel cell reference - you'll find the relevance..

(40+ y/o NASA Voyager deep-space probes - have exited our solar system, but are still (electrically) powered up).

Needs 4WD!

Although a bit "slow" looking on video...in person FE is pretty enjoyable (mainly due to the tires slipping/sliding around). I hope FE makes gains in corner entry/exit speed.

Nah, that would be too innovative. Torque vectoring, brake balancing, fully regenerative breaking... Unthinkable!

If 4WD, electric motors, and tires slipping/sliding around are your thing, you're in luck. World rallcross is switching to all electric in 2020.

Step by step man, FE is still on its infancy, still trying to attract more brands and sponsors so a reasonable budget right now is way way more important than latest technology and innovation.

There´re a million things to improve before allowing free development to teams. For example, 4wd now would be absurd, with less than 200kw they´re power limited 95% of the time and it would only mean cars go on rails

What's that light under front bumper? Ride height control? speed measuring?

Those tyre pieces looks crazy. This literally chews rubber
