good step from the engine accor to Tanabe. so thats good to hear and which we saw. now come on toro rosso bring in some aero updates. others are overtaking you.
i bit shocked why they choose hypers to start. ultra had more pace but decided to run the hypers.

When aksed about if some worry about the reliability of PU on Saturday after qualifying session,Hartley said he dont worry because he didnt change the new MGU-H like Gasly did.
So it seems the PU issues occured in Gasly's car on saturday was caused by MGU-H?
Altough tanabe san said only ICE was updated,but it seems the MGU-H and MGU-K was modified too.
Then the journalist asked the leaderman of HRD development team Yasuaki Asaki,who came to paddock for the second time this year.
“if we say its new,its like a little bit exaggerated,we made some modifition in some places we noticed in a limited time. ”He didnt deny it.

The other japanese journalist also reported it was a MGU-H failure.
But its intersting that the article reported the failure happened was because they didnt use it in a proper way.

Do you guys think honda can save the motor that Gasly had to change at the end of fp3 ???
Also if u watch the race on sky sport harty was asked if he was I’m worried about an issue with his power unit and he said he did not have the same part on his car,Can it be there Running 2 types of pu in bought cars ???

After an encouraging qualifying performance, Brendon’s hopes of scoring points from 12th on the grid were frustratingly over before the end of the first lap as he was caught in a collision with Lance Stroll at Turn 5 that took both Brendon and the Williams out of the race. With Pierre having to switch to a previous specification of power unit for qualifying and originally scheduled to start from 16th, the team took the opportunity to introduce a number of new components. Installing a fresh ICE, turbocharger, MGU-H and MGU-K demoted him to the back of the grid, but in reality it was only a drop of three positions and expands the pool of components for future races.

After making a good start, Pierre ran in the top ten for a spell during a long first stint, and then climbed back into 11th place after making his pit stop. While he was unable to get on terms with Charles Leclerc ahead of him in the fight for the final point, Pierre was able to hold off Romain Grosjean as the Haas attacked on fresher tyres for a number of laps.

charles lec is a future star. pierre got very close to overtaking him but shot his tyres meant he had to conserve them to rest of the race. but good job by peirre considering he started at the back and make overtakes on the straight. i belive it was perez , mag eric

Hartley mentioned he didn't get updated MGU-H that Gasly got?

Fom did not show any of Gas fights with Alonso ,Mag,Perez for a boring race it would have made a difference.

STR figured they could replicate Monaco, when Gasly started with Hypers and made it last for 30 something laps

He had the updated engine. But if Gasly locked brakes and compromised the front tires, all make sense. Anyway it's clear that the engine is a step forward. Let's see next race with better mapping and a bit of good luck with the accidents...

Bingo. Gasly could easily keep up with the Sauber, but to actually make a pass you need a very big pace advantage. As you said yourself, Grosjean with much fresher tyres couldn't pass Gasly. Even though Grosjean's tyres gave him a pace advantage, it wasn't enough to make the pass stick. Same was true for Gasly. He was stuck to Leclerc's gearbox all the way until the leaders lapped them. Then he started to reel Leclerc in again, locked his tyres and the rest is history.

They have pace to take points and such a long straight they didn't live problems so all are good news.

one mistake they did make is why didnt the pit gasly just after charles pitted. running longer on those hyper did not work this time. i hope next time they wait till someone pits and they immediately pit the next lap.
