McLaren MCL33

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I have thought the same thing. Looks "under-devolped" to other teams.

Maybe they decided to stick with it (works well) while working on fixing their speed problems.

Anyone else notice how big the brake ducts are compared to others?
McLaren have a blown front axel, so a section of that inlet is for that rather than brake cooling. Not sure if any of those other teams you showed do the same, doesn't look like it from the photos.

I think everyone has a blown axle

Illustrates relationship between FW height and the forward edge of the plank/t-tray. Although not apparent in this image, the FW footplate and floor/plank are parallel and raked at the same angle, by decree. Sometimes the rear edge of the FW footplate pivots downward under aero loading.
Could you explain what you mean by this because to me it looks like the front wing is parallel to the floor unless under load whereas the front of the plank [t-tray area] is whatever the rake angle the car is.

Probably not a great one but:

This down fall of McLaren's performances makes me think about their developments.

1. Is the nw nose working? Cape and air flow around/through the nose?

it does look as though the nose do not deliver the performance.

Could you please show us on what data you based your conclusion that McLaren's bad results are linked to their introduction of a new nosecone? It would certainly add a lot to the discussion.

well i guess results speak for them selfs, since the new aero kit turned the car from a dog to go down the straights to a dog all around the circuit....

socking to watch this car on track......my view ...the car is too sort too heavy with very bad weight balance and managment ...looks like to heavy at the middle part of the car and that cut the car too 3 sector ..and not on 2 ..(axles)

mclaren must build brand new car ...longer with must possible less weight and center of gravity lower and much more to the rear of the car ....the mcl33 looks like a car with 3 axle ..the 2 majors on the front and middle ..and the real rear like helping wheels of baby bicylce ..if you remember any one owner of this baby bicycles you cant go fast ..because ..the small wheel diameter ..limit the big one ...the problems of the car is something similar ...you can not go faster even x more power or x more downforce ...bigger wheelbase move weight at the back and lower ...remove us must possible weight from the middle part of the car ...
Hey that´s brilliant, a car with only two axles, but no Z, will solve all of their drag problems

Last lap I believe.

But it's interesting, how would that have happened?

Hitting curbs maybe, happened a few times in Austria a few years ago to a few teams

A couple of laps before the V safety, the commentator said Alonso had pitted for softest tyres to try for fastest lap. Probably had a mis-hap trying too hard.

Isn't that the same wheel side that Vettel tapped?
Always find the gap then use it.
