The FP2 qualy sim runs:

- Kimi did a 4-lap run with his best time of 1.28.045 set on his last run;
- Vettel did also a 4-lap run setting the best FP2 time with 1.27.552 in his 2nd run;
- Bottas did a 4-lap run being quickest at his 2nd run: 1.27.909;
- Lewis did a 6-lap run and set his best time at the last lap with 1.27.739;
- Ricci did a 4-lap run with the best time 1.27.403 in his 2nd run.

Then the actually qualy runs went into play:

- Lewis started a 13-lap stint on 7 laps old softs having times between 1.32.6 to 1.33.5, then went for 7 laps old medium doing a short 4 lap-run from 1.32.8 to 1.32.4! …

- Bottas on 6 laps old softs went for a 7-lap stint run starting with 1.33.0 and finished with a 1.34.0. Then went for a 6-lap stint on 7 laps old hards doing times between 1.33.5 to 1.33.2!

- Vettel started a 16-lap stint on 9 laps old medium tyres with laps between 1.32.8 and 1.33.5 until 14th lap and the last 2 ones he was dropping with a 1.34.2 and 1.34.8 lap at the end … then switch to 6 laps old soft doing a 4 lap-run from 1.31.2 to 1.31.7

- Kimi started a 12-lap stint on 9 laps old soft tyres with times from 1.33.3 to 1.33.8, then went for a 7 laps old medium doing a short 3 lap run with a time of 1.31.4 at the 2nd lap

- Ricci started a 6-lap stint on a 7 old softs starting with a time of 1.34.4 and ending with 1.33.8! then switch to 10 laps mediums doing a 6-lap stint between 1.33.5 to 1.33.3!

If someone dares to make a conclusion from the above facts feel free to do so ….

Now regarding tyre management, C.Horner said on Sky that at the moment there are no signs of tyre blistering but this scenario was the same in Austria and here there`s a higher probability to be in the race due to having more high-speed corners …

The problem with SKY was, the driver was number 44, the car a mercedes, the place Silverstone.

Not that it's any of my concern, but why should he say anything nice about Sky F1? Their broadcast is going down massively since the end of 2015. And it doesn't seem like it will reach bottom any time soon.

In their comparable long runs Hamilton was a bit faster than the Ferrari driver. An average of one and a half tenths per lap.

No in this case they're comparing Vettels medium long run with Hamilton's soft long run which is obviously faster. I don't get what they're trying to say.

I wouldn't expect a proper analysis, when all the data isn't available.

I'm just happy we are entering quali and nobody can say who will get it. Then again same thing entering race day no matter who sits on the front row. Hopefully Red Bull will catch sharp end and we will enter every weekend with 6 guys who could legitimately win with sheer speed and cunning.

We don`t know all the variables involved but I did a brief sector times analysis between Ferrari and Merc after qualy sim laps in FP2 ...
(Remember that Vettel set his fastest time in his 2th lap and Lewis did his fastest time on the 6nd lap, some 12 min. after Vettel!)




In sector 1 it`s even-steven between them.
In sector 2 Vettel gained 61 hundredths and this sector has 2 slow to medium corners (6 and 7) and 4 high-speed turns (8,9,10 and 11)
In the last sector - 3 - Vettel gained 117 hundredths and we have 2 slow corners (16 and 17) and 5 high-speed ones (12,13,14,15 and 18)

So, in conclusion, we could assume that Ferrari`s upgrades give them the upper hand regarding high-speed stuff, right?
