Kubica getting too cocky?

Did anyone hear the exchange between him and his race engineer during FP1? Apparently he didn't get on with his old engineer last year so had him replaced, but it seems that it's Kubica who's the problem and already the relationship with his new race engineer doesn't look so good.

edit: I also remembered the incident where Kubica shook his fist at Massa for blocking him. Not exactly sportsman is he.

I get the idea that he is a prima dona but doesn't show it in his public demeanor.

Still, as long as he doesn't get arrogant like Hamilton, I have nothing against him

As far as I am concerned, he showed how arrogant he is today by thinking that he knows everything and not even trying to compromise with his race engineer. Bit of a spoilt brat.

What he said was perfectly reasonable. But it's the way he said it. Came off very rude and arrogant.

Wow kekeke you took this Kubica bashing to new level didn't you? I'm not going to get sucked into a bang-your-head-on-the-wall battle of opinion (you already know how I feel)--I just want to state a simple fact. Last year Kubica and his engineer had a best finish of 4th place three times over the entire season. This year Kubica and his new engineer have four podium finishes including a win through 8 races.

You only saw a small period of interaction in defense of Kubi...there could have been a number of factors that lead to that....or he could just be a driven , focused person who acts like a jerk sometimes....the world is full of those and that's okay.

Kubica was discussing with his race engineer about going back out unto the track with all the "powder" on the track at Stowe from Massa incident. He was adamant about not going out first to be the "track cleaner". I believe Fisichella (sp?) went out first and cleaned the track. Kubica eventually did rejoin the practise session.

I think the tone of voice was acceptable considering the circumstances and what is at stake. I would imagine the exchange to be typical. The tone of voice would, however, be unacceptable in most other human interactions.

The powder used to absorb the synthetic oil on the track apparently was portland cement rather than "oil dry" or "kitty litter". I find "cement dust" to be an interesting oil absorbant.

"Cocky" is not something

I've come to associate with Kubica. He's got character, that's for sure, weathering some pretty dire conditions at a young age to be able to race in Italy and nowadays occasionally playing poker with Bernie and a select few other F1 regulars every once in a while. The media recently portrayed some of his comments as him aspiring to the No. 1 driver status within BMW Sauber. The veracity of this interpretation I was less than convinced by, but I do hope he appreciates that his team being just a tenth or two short he cannot make up for just by focussing on himself. On the contrary, the drivers should share every bit of data and drive freely, the chips falling where they may in pursuing whatever it is that separates them from McLaren and Ferrari. The bottom line however, personal opinions and preferences notwithstanding, is that for Robert's influence F1 racing is better off for now and we should appreciate that at least.

Kubica is probably one of the least (outwardly) "cocky" drivers around. He's cool, confident, and consistently fast.
