.... Even if they tried
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Alonso said he is going to decide about his future somewhere on beach during summer brake.
So last race before that is Hungary, and i expect lot of upgrades at Hungary.
And i expect them to work, so Alonso stays.😏

If upgrades make them 4th fastest on every track and they start somewhat catching Redbull, then he MIGHT stay.

Alonso told the team the track is dry and questioned their strategy on radio but they pitted him anyway without even asking him about track conditions. Insanity.

I wouldn't get too excited about Hungary if I were you. We already know there's no quick fix, Renault, Haas, FI are pulling away. There's too much ground to make up.

Listening to that radio it's incredible, to say something "soft". The car evolution is almost "flat" and the impression from outside is that they're testing witthout knowing very well what are they doing. Team strategy taking bad decisions, Vandoorn's car with a mistery problem that they can't find, and Renault PU again quite far from Merc. and Ferrari in that no-catch game.

Hopes are that somehow they find "the problem" and fix it, but we know that "the problem" is not a loose wire that you find and ... "oh!! it was this wire !!" ... Now we start to hear "It's time to put all the efforts in next year car" and probably is the best option because McLaren has less money and resources than the top 3, plus Renault. And dont forget the Ferrari "B", that Haas with a Hulkemberg, Sainz or Leclerc ....

Things aren't going forward, I really want Alonso to stay but ...

We'l know the upgrades' worth in quali but they were more or less 4th fastest in Spain and Monaco so the track should suit them. However Spa and Monza will be painful; on top of the horsepower deficit they run a huge rear wing and loose so much on the straights which is basically what 70% of those tracks are.

They admire Fernando's capabilities and pay him that much but they can't even trust his opinion about if it's right to box or not, what a pity... That strategy was the worst possible.

Yeah, that's true, Hungary should be considerably better. Let's hope they're working towards solutions towards Spa & Monza, because like you said, it'll be painful with their current issues

They might even end up 7th in WCC if car doesn't get considerably faster. We're talking 0.8 sec gap to Renault.

It was not a matter of opinions or data. McLaren, similar to Red Bull with Verstappen, made a bet. They did bet rain would come, no matter what the weather reports were.

They failed miserably, but they had nothing to loose with one car dead last and the other outside the points, so shouldn´t provide any added drama...
