Aston Martin Red Bull Racing TAG Heuer RB14

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Ferrari should copy this copy, open ended on one side and the cutout on the other.

Always with the next level stuff, this team. Put a Merc or Ferrari engine in this chassis; we all know what the answer would be.
I'm asking this genuinely and not trying to be facetious or sarcastic, but if that's the case, why is this year's RB typically nowhere in the rain? Rain helps to mitigate PU advantages, as it becomes even more difficult to put the power down, no?

As a total package: suspension kinematics, aero efficiency, etc., I don't think Red Bull is quite there. Which isn't a dig at Red Bull; it shows the incredible levels of development at the top 2 teams.

We know where it would be if you dropped the Merc into it, nowhere, because the packaging would go to ---.

The spray off the tyres still messed with the aero. If teams suddenly start performing diffetently in the rain its probably indicative of different methods to managing the tyre wake

Not sure we've heard that excuse before!

RedBull, like everyone else, send front tyre wake as far out as they can - especially important with their high rake car where the tyre wake could have huge effects if they let it go under the rear.

More likely is one of these:
1. The drivers aren't as good in the wet
2. The car doesn't get/keep the inters/wets in their operating window
3. The chassis is to "pointy" in the dry which makes it tricky in the wet
4. The engine's power delivery isn't as driveable in the wet as other engines.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

VES feedback was point 2. Apparently the RB14 has trouble getting the tires in the proper operating window (too cool). They have the same issue on SC-restarts apparently.

Are the mirrors angled outwards or it's my eyes playing with me? In the first photo, I mean.

Now they have again new (or lets say different) suspension components!

Those supports are solely for structural purpose... right. Ridiculous

I think it looks outwardly-angled because it's missing the inner sides of the housing that are present in other designs like Ferrari's.
