You got to hope that they've put 70% of there effort into next year's car since Spain. Other cars are moving forward but they're standing still. So it looks like they're going backwards.
The car has some fundamental issues that can't be fixed, so I don't expect them to bring any updates that can't be used for next year.
We can only hope these fundamental problems have been identified and the solutions found, so it won't be repeated in 2019. It's obvious 2018 is a bust in terms of recovery and updates, it's all about brave drives, guts and grit to get as many points as possible.
According to Alonso they have:

"Carlos has everything he needs to lead a project like McLaren that we hope will continue to improve by the end of the year," he said. "The problems with the car have been identified for some months now even though many of the solutions cannot be applied now because the 2018 design is done."

I'm in accordance with the Miami God lover. That they're just lacking down force from midwing/bargeboards/diffuser area and not that there is anything wrong with the car.

That is not to say that they don't need to shrink the sidepods more.

you can advance to 2023 and Mclaren will be the same. they are worse than williams at the moment. next year they could well become "HRT". only eternal optimist will trust them now.

There is nothing wrong with the car? How can you say something like that while McLaren has said there are several problems with the car that can't be fixed because the 2018 design is done. If it just was about improving the car, they wouldn't have spend full friday's figuring out their correlation problems. This car is utter crap and it has been from day 1.

I'm talking about 2019, although I do believe McLaren is interested in Ocon. There has been talk that is he is too long and that the switch is delayed until Singapore.

Yeah, I got that, was actually referring to 2019 myself. Ocon is quality, I hope if it does come off, he'll have a car he can fight with in 2019.... Hopefully, he won't be letting the Mercedes cars through so easily.

For all the people that still believe this car isn't fundamentally flawed. McLaren has gone backwards.
