About Bottas being used to slipstream - is that true and any factual basis for that or are you guys just being provokative? Genuine question. I am watching RAI so apart from the footage, i have little clue what they are talking.
Well both last laps (fast ones) he was in front of Hamilton. And I think that's why Ham got purple S1 in his last run
You can clearly see how far ahead Bottas is on their fast laps

Think Vettel pole once engine turned up for Q3.

If Hamilton does get pole will he still be ahead by end of lap 1 or 2 giving Ferrari performance on the straights.

Bottas was 4-5 seconds in front of Lewis on their final runs. I was watching the live timing and keeping count on when they were passing through the sectors. On their 3rd flying laps both made mistakes and didn't set a time.

Also Ferrari did only 4 laps on their qualy sim, Mercs did 6. So maybe had 2 extra laps of fuel. 0.081 is less time than carrying 2 laps of fuel. So still no wiser as to who will be on pole.
I can tell with certainty ferrari was also still playing some games. Vettel had ~330 kmh just before parabolica, Rai had only ~320 but still did purple sector. There's loads to come, probably from both teams, but perhaps a bit more from ferrari.

I dont think Monza is that critical in regards to slipstreaming on the first lap. The last corner ahead of the long straight is also too fast to follow closely i think.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Could that be that Vettel went in too hot and lost time in parabolica, and Kimi nailed it ?
Its possible, just saying.

If the track keeps improving both Ferrari and Merc can go at least a second faster

Yeah, its not like the opening lap at Spa. If you get into turn 1 first without a compromised line, you have a much better chance leading lap 1 than you do at Spa

Could be, but look at it from the other side: kimi with the obviously turned down engine did a pretty good sector.

Any idea or data to know whether Ferrari or Mercedes has a more powerful Q3 engine mode?

Or do we assume they both increase by the same.

I think Ferrari show the largest jump, but they may just be turned down more in practice.

It's going to be tight!
