Villenueve and Sauber

Just seen in the news that he has signed for Sauber. Very odd considering that he just tested for Renault. Must to have taken a massive wage cut to get this drive. What's your view?

The king is back. This is gonna liven things up a bit. Hopefully he'll finish this season driving for Renault. That way he can mixit up with Schumi at the start.

I'm so happy with this, but I am however left with some mixed feelings.

I wonder why Renault did not consider signing him for 2005 instead of Fisico, or why that didn't work. I am a huge fan of Jacques and Renault, but not really of Sauber however... It just proves what I have been saying all along since he got kicked out of Sauber... the guy is just asking what he can earn, and at the time of his contract signing with BAR that was huge. I'm convinced Richards didn't even want to hear for cost Jacques would have liked to drive for BAR this year. It would not have been as high as BAR liked to let people believe...

Ah well he's back, but I just want some clarification why choosing Fisico over Jacques next year.. PLEASE

I've watched JV since his days back in formula atlantic and I always knew he would go on to great things. HIs win in the indy 500 was amazing and it was no suprise that F1 came calling shortly thereafter. But he's such a prima donna and a huge whiner. According to him it's never his fault. He's great when everything lines up his way, but when the chips are down he's not worth much. If sauber can give him a competitive car then i imagine he'll show do quite well.

We have Jacques back! I belive that his revenge will be complete if Flavio gives him the cahance for these three races and that Jacques is motivated more than ever to cick Richards’s ass! So, if Renault cliches second with JV on board I think BAR will be devastated. I firmly JV will be one of Briatore’s crucial decisions.

But which shirt you’ll wear – Renault’s or Sauber’s? ))

hehe yes idd I've been asking myself the same question.
For now there is no problem, I got a Renault one that I bought in Francorchamps, and as a matter of fact I'm wearing it hehe..

Anyway, I think I'll look for a Villeneuve prominent thing, rather than Sauber, I don't really like Sauber's colour scheme and image.

Anyway, hope you all support him, I'll create a new poll hehe

Ok now lets look at things....he is on a 2 year contract with 2 million dollars a year....and he has to get 5 million dollars of sponsorship for Sauber! This is considered a pay driver....he'll get 4 million and total and has to get 5 million!

Even Pedro Paulo Diniz who paid Arrows in 1997 16 million dollars had a half a million dollar salary! So for those who don't agree with me (that JV is a pay-driver) you should pay attention to all the other pay drivers cause there are 2 kinds of pay drivers!

1 - those who pay the team to race for them and get a very small salary for it. when paying they get small limited space on the car. (ex. Baumgartner, Panatano, Lavaggi, Marques)

2 - those who have sponsors paying the team, and give all the money to the team...and also get a very small salary...and in the contract it is stipulated that their driver will race (ex. Katayama, Tuero, Inoue, Diniz)

100% pay drivers aren't very common....they do get some money though it is usually very small compared to what they give (or their sponsors give) to the team....

PS - just confirmed Lavaggi wasn't in the 1st option he is the few drivers who in fact didn't recieve a penny....he is 100% pay-driver.

Usually a pay driver is considered a driver that gives more money to the team then he earns.....though almost all of them do earn, but very little.
