I'm of the belief that Lewis might just end up like Jacques.
Here are some of the similarities between the two.

1- Both Rookies In Very good teams One In Williams (Dominant force of the 90's ) the other in MCLAREN (Same dominance of the 90's)

2- Both Had WORLD CHAMPIONS (Future & current) as Teammates.

3- Both started off with 2 year contracts

4- Both had sensational starts to their Rookie Season.

5-Both Scored Podiums on DEBUT.

6- Both won 4 races in their debut seasons.

7- Both had talks about team orders while in their teams, One Faced in in his debut race while the other allegedly in Monaco.

8- Both Prolificly in the media for vaious reasons.

9- Both had their treammates dropeed once their debut season was over.

10- Both ended no.2 in their debut seasons.

11- Both had fast cars.

And a few on a light side are:

-Both aren't that great at testing.
-Both were famous in the initial stages of their careers
- Both are sons of someone famoue. Jacques the son of Giles. And Lewis the illegal son of Ron :P :P
Racing cars are neither beautiful nor ugly, they are beautiful only when you win races.

He is my favorite driver and has brought me even closer to the sport. His agresiveness on the track, his ability to pass, and his driving in the wet is very impressive.

I am 100% confident that he will win the championship and it should have been his second championship but he was cheated out of that last year.

He would have won more last year but his former teammate did not act like a champion and cried the entire time he was at Mclaren, but thats a whole other story.

Fun Prediction: Lewis Hamilton
10 Championships
101 Wins
75 Poles
75 Fastests laps
and i think you are 100% wrong

I like to see when people bring up facts to why Hamilton wont be as great as we (fans) think he will be. Makes it more fun.

I don't see anybody evoking much confidence as Lewis Hamilton on the field right now IMO. So saying that he will dominate is like a safe bet.

As brilliant as Hamilton can be he has still shown a couple of times that he can have lacklustre races where he struggles to get into form (and when his team-mate is doing well). This doesn't mean he wont be champion this year but does mean it isn't a given as some suggest.

It seems our long lost MS has started a trend whereby people expect "domination" in F1.

It is not going to happen again in the same way as MS made it happen. I am no fanboi of anyone and have watched F1 since 1985.

Lewis is good..his car is better.

I do not see Lewis doing much better than either Honda driver if they swapped over but I see anyone from the rest of the field being capable of winning in the Macca.

It does take a special talent to win but the opportunity is not there for some to show this talent.

Personally I am sick to the back teeth of hero worshipping a kid that has not done anything yet..but each to their own I suppose.

I hate when people say he's good because he is in a good car. Hamilton is in that car because he's the best. Ron Dennis just doesn't put anybody in that seat. Ron Dennis knows talent when he sees it. You can put Hamilton in any car and he will still win.

DaveKillens wrote:It's nice to cheer for and appreciate a wonderful, new talent in Formula One. But I've seen this all before. But there was no cheating by Ferrari last year. Although they sometimes played rough off the track, Lewis flat out threw his title chance away. The rookie cracked under the pressure and drama happening around him.
He will probably get a few WDC's, maybe even up there around six, seven, maybe eight. But even the best driver cannot win without a very good team and car behind him. Schumacher won seven, but he had a unprecedented superior team behind him 100%. Senna, who I consider better than Lewis, only garnered three titles. And remember, just like last year, winning a title doesn't come easy, or often.
Lewis Hamilton will most likely take his place amoung the greats in racing, but I don't worship him. I like him, and cheer for him. But he's very human, can and does make mistakes, and has a very long and difficult career ahead of him.

Let's put this thread in it's proper perspective. I've seen the same enthusiasm and adoration, cheering and proclamations of greatness from countless Schumacher fans. And today, we witness his influence. When Schumacher entered F1 in 1991, racing was considered a fringe sport in Germany. Roll the clock forward to today, and we see five German drivers racing in F1. That's his true legacy.
Just a few short years ago forums and message boards were swamped by Schuey fans, some more enthusiastic than knowledgeable. The same applies today to Lewis Hamilton.
He has more talent than Michael Schumacher and I like Michael but the Ferrari team gets favoritism from the FIA. Michael did not have the competition that Lewis faces. We have a lot more talented drivers in Formula 1 than ever before. Also Michael had traction control.

I respectfully disagree. The car is over half the equation.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

F1Italia,

Would you like to provide us with some supporting details of why you think Lewis has more talent than the Michael Schumacher?

Has he won more races in one season than Michael? More championships? More pit lane collisions?

Actually come to think of it, I have much more talent then Michael Schumacher also!

But you are correct in stating that Michael had no competition, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, and Mika Hakkinen had no talent at all.....

Hahaha...i've been missing from the forum for awhile and see what happens....my god!! where are all these fanboys coming from. I'm a Hamilton fan but i would never go as far as to post a thread saying that he will dominate F1, he is better then this person, he is better then that person..and realistically for the statement saying he is better then Schu??...who knows, let him surpass Schu's records then we'll talk about that...now..its really unproven. Oh add to the list of the ppl looked over as one of Schu's greatest competitors over the years, Raikkonen and Alonso..and the later did beat Schu to the tittle.
You can't deny Hamilton is a great talented driver, and its quite amazing how he is finally really maturing now in this season as a real driver and taking good steps of such of some fumbles. But its early days yet to say he will dominate the sport. Its early days yet to say he will even win this season. I would love him too. But we will all just have to wait and see.
For the many fanboys all of a sudden poping up..its and open forum. Not a biased one. You have an opinion fine and dandy. But don't become a Zeolot on it. Not good for the health.
