From Mark Hughes:
"By contrast, Mercedes arrived here on the crest of a wave and its calm confidence shone through. The W09 was flying down the straights in Friday morning practice, with a speed trap speed before 130R of 312kph, more than 10kph faster than the Ferrari. Some new development, as yet secret, was responsible for that enormous margin.
Thereafter either it wasn’t used or its advantage was converted into a few degrees more rear wing flap angle – and for the rest of the weekend it was no faster at the end of the straights than the Ferrari at about 305kph."
