Appears that McLaren have lost key sponsorships of Chandon, NTT communications and Airgain according to their partners page on their website. Chandon presumably were a key partner monetary wise as they had good exposure on the overalls and car. NTT also we’re on the rear wing end plate. Airgain whilst a sponsor seemed minimal.

Given the fact that Chandon was on the side of the car and there was already vast space there, you’d like to think Zak has sponsors lined up otherwise the car may be looking threadbare. Hopefully some big brands and big sponsorships are to come.

Interesting to note that Kimoa and Coca-Cola are still listed as sponsors. Therefore the above comments noting about Alonso buying into the team may not be too far from the truth as well as McLaren potentially signing up Coca-Cola for the longer term.

These happens are a sharp contrast to recent comments by Zak, so one can only assume, (or at least hope) that they've got something significant lined up.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Airgain gone? That deal was signed in 2018.
The McLaren Technology Group has announced a multi-year partnership with wireless connectivity brand Airgain.

Seems strange as like you said they announced it last year as a multi year contract. I’ll be honest I don’t know what they do other than involved in technology and data, however McLaren do have a few data/technology sponsors already which could cause conflicts? Then again I may just be speculating......

Yeah, might be something like that.

Should we expect a drinks replacement for Chandon in 2019? Perhaps Coca Cola have been retained but only on the promise of exclusivity in that field or something (particularly with the cross-series attraction that McLaren have)?

I feel it’s a sign of the times that alcohol brands are less eager to get involved with F1; Martini pulled out at the end of this year, Johnnie Walker recently too.

You’re quite right, feels like a changing of direction for the alcohol brands with there being very few if any left. Although aren’t Johnnie Walker a sponsor of F1 and just not a team sponsor now? Is there a changing of the guard from alcohol brands to soft/energy drinks with Coca-Cola, Red Bull, Monster, Rich Energy, BWT all now sponsoring teams?

The Coca-Cola deal you reference is plausible as they are still listed as a sponsor for the team, however from a selfish point of view why would they heavily sponsor any team as their products sell themselves?

Seems strange that imo. Not only did they lose Michael Kors to accommodate Kimoa and keep Alonso happy and now they’re not a sponsor of the team? Surprised Alonso would allow this considering he seems on good terms and with Zak and the rumour that he may become an investor.

Even more big space on the McLaren car for Zak to fill with Kimoa and Chandon being located on key sponsor areas. All the noise from Zak is that they’ve done just as well as last year sponsorwise so can only imagine they’ve got some big deals lined up......

Kimoa was just on the car because of the fact Honda no longer paid the half of Alonso's salary. They didn't receive any money for it. The rumor about Alonso becoming a shareholder was just the Spanish edition of 'april fools day'. He's still on good terms since he will be doing Indy 500.

Since the 2012 season, McLaren has been wrong on every key decision they needed to make, eventually it will turn around but I do not see a light at the end of this tunnel yet.

Thinking about it with Carlos Sainz joining the team, I imagine his sponsor Estrella Galicia will follow him to McLaren, so that’s likely one new sponsor to the team, not that I know if this is worth much. Maybe they will replace Kimoa on the bargeboard area like they were with Renault.....
