Can BMW Sauber regain their form ?

Post

Hi!
What do you think ?
In the early races, BMW looked like they could soon challenge Ferrari and McLaren, now they are being challenged by Toyota.

Can BMW's drivers get on the podium again ?
The only way to close a stupid question is to give a smart answer

I would say BMW Sauber have been realistic, they were clear of the rest of the field and only challenged McLaren and Ferrari when circumstances fell their way. They got their win early and hence their objectives could be achieved (a win and third place in the WCC) without a huge development push for this year. So they have been able to put even greater focus on 2009.

I dont see them pushing to catch Ferrari or McLaren this year, simply maintain their gap to the rest of the grid...

I do see BMW Sauber having a second win in one of the remander of the remaining races, but with a little help and fortune.

I think that Toyota could also have the same fortune fall their way as well, but is at more of a push for them.

I can see them (BWM Sauber) doing something at either Japan or Brazil, however, i feel that Toyota could have their best shot at a win at Spa, but again, both teams need to have the Maccas and the Ferarris to have some misfortune to get the desired result.

Id say the odds are like this:
BMW Sauber = 50/50 to get another win this season.
Toyota = 65/35 against them to get a win this season.

I agree with scarbs there. They will make some noises to accomodate Kubica's ambitions but the gap has widened too much for him now and they know that they cannot beat Merc on performance. So 2009 will get a lot more attention. You can see how hard they fight for KERS where they believe to have a good start.

I agree too, they are a safe third in the constructors table. The other teams in the top five positions are likely to fight it out until the end of the year, so BMW will be content with earning points and maybe the odd podium... speaking of which, Valencia looks very different to Hungary, more like Montreal, could the upcoming race be their best chance of a podium for the remainder of the season?
