Mercedes W10 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Tbh I don’t think the teasers show the actual w10 at all.

Is that an officially sanctioned sketch or a fan drawing?
They print these drawings with proper engineering drawing borders which then get signed by the directors and are given to employees. They have been doing this for a few years now.
The height of the floor seems to be off, too far off the ground in relation to other pieces of bodywork.

Seems that they will retain classic sidepod layout

Looks like Sabuer's last year Sidepod intake.

That appears to be the sidepod air entry with supports for turning vanes to the side and below. THe floor is visible to the right / behind.

If that is the sidepod entry then it is very different to last year with a more rounded edge.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

This sidepod looks like an old-fashioned sidepod indeed, but it has a funky shape (top right corner) so yes maybe this a C38-like sidepod... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dy0N8gGWoAAnjy_.jpg

I wonder how the sidepod intake is going to look like. The opening is taller by the looks of it, narrower too, quite conventional. It is unlike what Ferrari and Red Bull did last season which is interesting, I think we all expected them to go that route.

Maybe the picture above is just to fool people and the actual sidepod intake is completely different than what's seen here?

Either this is a protrusion of the aero to make way for the crash structure or the vinyl textured was overlayed onto the complete car render and this is the rear wheel?

Looks like the tyre. So far it seems they've just properly refined the change they made to the sidepod midway last season but of course o ly a full view will show us what's what.

On the last tease, I'm unsure where the lower piece is coming from.
The one on the right I suppose is connected to the side elements, but the lower one?
With the new shape for the bargeboard, can something funky be possible and have it somehow attached above the leading edge of the floor?

Edit:
Image

The image from motorsport was cropped, we can see more of the bottom element + see some of the top mid-wing.
Looks like the intake is going to be quite massive and not split by the crash structure.
Curious why they ended up covering the tire in camo paint as well.
