car-team radio conversation on TV

Post

F1racing.net said the driver radio conversations will be heard on TV for the first time in Shanghai.
Just as usual, the article is very confusing. It says "Bernie Ecclestone's company is in charge of the broadcast in Shanghai" This could either mean Bernie's company broadcasts to the Shanghai people, or is in charge of the broadcasting of the Shanghai GP. So was it available in europe or USA, or is it only available to the people of Shanghai who don't really know anything about F1, nor do they really care.
I didn't watch the qualifying, missed it, so somebody that watched could please tell me what the truth once again is under all this confusion?

The system is going to be broadcasted all over the world. The transmissions were going to start at Indianapolis but for some kind of problem the transmission was canceled. The system doesn't broadcast live...it has a few seconds of lapse so the system can check for any kind of bad language used.

What did Gianmaria Bruni say on the radio when his tire fell off? I knew he was cussing something...

I live in Australia and we get the English ITV coverage. It was p!ss poor on the weekend during the Chinese GP. The radio comunication had a real bad echo and the on-board engine sounds were a few seconds behind the pictures.

Bruni was just told to stay off the racing line.

The SPEED TV commentators said that whatever Bruni said, shouldn't have been said (because of live TV).

Just going through the race (I tape them all...since 1997)....so here is what was said:

"try to come in, try to come" - Minardi team
"(something not understandable)....stay off the line, off the line" - Another Minardi team element
"......(not understandable but from the --- family...someting like:just or still ---!)......"

Yeah I heard it too.. and im pretty sure it won't be the last time. I'm positive that Mr Bernie E is stressing the "Team Radio" fact to the drivers in meetings now but sometimes it just slips out.

But in any case the radio isn't live it has a time lapse, enough time to analyse the content....at least that's what the press release said. But with the Bruni incidente...I don't know if it is true.

If they filter the content anyway they could try to make the sound more clear so you can understand it better

I don't think the sound would even need any special filtering, but I think what it needs is some more volume. The radio conversation is not even near the same level as the commentators mics are, and often just gets drowned under the ignorant commentator.

It is more or less live...it has only a few seconds lapse....even in Nascar it has a few seconds of lapse....if you watch a nascar race you'll see they always show the radio transmission from the begining! Do you think the team contacts the tv broadcaster saying: "were going to have a nice chat starting at this time, please transmit it"? No the broadcaster has access to all conversations(I think) and he chooses some....and transmites it from the start....they're not 100% live....after the transmission is done to the driver probably it takes a few seconds to analise it and broadcast it.

Though I really think the Bruni incident might have been live...and the Montoya one in Qualifying...all the others were replays.
