Almost an incident between Hamilton and Kubica. Kubica almost stopped on the apex of turn 13 and Hamilton locked up briefly before taking to the old circuit around T13. Kubica then pitted. Presumably Kubica didn't know Hamilton was there and Hamilton expected Kubica to maintain usual speed through the turn. Could have been messy had they collided.

If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Leclerc 18.0 C3.

I think we can say for sure that Ferrari is better

Lewis is out on the C5s. Looks like Merc is sampling all the compounds!

You know how much fuel they were carrying and engine modes they were using? Compared to others?

Don't forget that the softer tires might not even be in the optimal window, not to mention 100 other variables!

Do we have an idea of gap between tyres ?

- RIC did 1.17.9 on C4
- He just did 1.17.7 on C5

So only 2 tenth between those two spec ? I imagine Renault is setting the same engine mode and fuel to compare tyres

Also last year hypersoft (aka c5) did not perform any better than ultra (c4) on this track

I question if the temps and increased grip this year, might make the softest compounds very temperamental.

Not an ideal track for Hypersofts (C5) in any way, 100% percent sure it won't be at the GP.
Even the C4 isn't a sure thing to be allocated for Barcelona.

There’s not a huge gap C2 to C3 either - I think Leclerc went 4 tenths quicker?

He seems to be setting his C3 times at the start of reasonably long runs (9-10 laps), but that probably also true if his C2 times.

It seems from most cars so far that these tyres are about as durable as Parmesan. It seems there is a steady decline in pace almost from lap 1, evident in both Mercedes and Ferrari pace. Tbh I haven’t been keeping up with others enough to verify. Anyone have any thoughts?

Albon ahead of Leclerc - by G Anderson's logic, Ferrari have no chance and should go home now!

Just a side question, since so many people were adamant that the report was correct that Toto and James left to go back to England, has anyone seen them today?

Hmm, judging from the data from F1debrief, Mercedes have taken the desperate measure of changing their fuel tank to reduce weight. We can say for certain that it has given them a higher speed but looks like they can only fit 5 laps of fuel in. These are clearly incontrovertible facts based on the data available!

Or, alternatively, it's the first test and the times posted are meaningless.

Does anybody know what a theoretical lap time was for Hamilton on that C3 lap that he got blocked by Kubica as he was fastest through the first and second sector up until then. His laps on C4 and C5 tyres have not really been impressive at all (but they could be playing around with engine modes / fuel loads), however, I'd be interested to compare his C3 time with Leclerc who has done a 1.18.0. Leclerc was 4 tenths faster than Hamilton on C2's (18.4 vs 18.8) so I wonder if it would be similar on C3's.
