I never understood why there was so much trash talking against Mclaren. Sure they had problems after 2012 till 2018 but every team had their bad years and good years. I am pretty sure Mclaren is much better than they think.
Probably because the years of statements like "we'll be on the podium in three or four races" or "we're announcing a title sponsor in the next few gp's" or plainly blaming Honda for everything.
Look at Williams,they had a bad run but were transparent and open about it. McLaren did this to themselves. Ron Dennis and humble are unable to live in the same space. Zak Brown and Boullier used these phrases in the beginning as wel and just the last half a year you see a turn around in the way they communicate. Hope it works to get some respect and fans back.
