McLaren fumbled the gearing last year hurting their top speed. They have to gauge their expected max speeds for the season to gear accordingly. It’s testing, they test things.

Looks like a technical problem to me. very strange to just go straight on like that with no deviation or attempt to turn. Or recover a snap or spin.
