Heard McLarens parts are running late and might not appear before Melbourne.

I just hope that is not the case. We need to be ready with a full upgraded spec for Melbourne. We need to be 100% perfect to start as good as possible.

Meaning they should be there for Melbourne at least?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Exactly what parts are missing? From what I gathered, they are going according to plan. Car was ready 3-4 days before the test and they are in qualy/race sim phase which means they evaluated everything they need and are working on setup/understanding the package.

According to Sainz, they have a balance issue that cannot be corrected until they get a new part, so I am assuming this part may not get in time for the test but they seem to be doing okay even with those balance issues. I'd say McLaren is more prepared and ready for the season than it was for a long time.

They'll have the testing package optmised as best possible to use, should there be delay to race 2 spec.

Could the balance issue be slow speed? Seeing sector times , they do seem to loose out in S3. S1 they seem to enjoy, especially the speed carried of the S1 timing line.

Should be, they must be in production/QA otherwise I wouldn't have heard anything.
They're still struggling with the front end a bit, probably what Sainz is talking about when he says the balance isn't there yet.

It’s mechinal grip they seem to struggle with. S3 really brings it out. They consistently lose a lot more in that sector relatively especially to the Ferrari.

Not seen one. Not even spotted mounting points for it. Guess they want a baseline first and validating windtunnel values

Sainz told that they were doing bit of qualifying runs today to see where the performance is.

If its a front end issue is it over or understeer? If understeer then it means the rear is working well. Much easier to fix a car with more rear end grip as well. Perhaps the balance is good at high and medium speeds but not great at low speeds.

Maybe they need a little more rake at low speeds?

Autosport continues with anti-McLaren content. I guess they need to be 6s ahead for that to change. However they managed to promote Alfa and Hass up the pecking order. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuZJp5YhP6Y

Pisses me off how when mclaren do a quali sum, they call it glory running for their sponsors, yet they don’t say that for any other team

It's quite amusing. Renault did 1:17:393 on C5, they did a one lap just like McLaren today. Autosport talked about that run like it is very promising and they made a step forward. No mention of glory run or doing it for sponsors.

I just want to know from where they put Haas as dark horse from pre-season...
