This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Why would they do that? Doesn’t make a lot of sense to strain the engine in FP... What is there to gain really?
Just the way they go about getting tyre data and setup I guess. They've done it for quite a while.
Thanks... I really wasn’t aware of that, I understand that in the 2015-2017 period they would do it to test the PU’s capability of running in higher modes (as part of the PU development)... Didn’t realize they continued that with Renault.
I'm looking forward to seeing how much Redbull can turn up the engine in the next session. I would be surprised if they are not ahead, but the eventual gap will be interesting. Whilst we were competitive in Aus, I feel like we have more of a chance here at Bahrain given how close everything is. It's good to see Haas aren't powering ahead but I suspect the extra DRS zone is taking some of the emphasis away from the engine on this track. Renault seems to be just slightly ahead of us right now, but seeing Hulk v Ric, I wonder if the car is faster, or if it is just down to the driver.
In any case, it looks like the update might be working as we seem to have enough downforce for now. All change for the evening though as conditions change, hopefully we will still be in the mix.
I'm going to pretend I don't harbour distant but ridiculously optimistic hopes that Lando can make the top 5. But then imagine a top 3 car having a little accident and less than perfect laps from Renault and Haas..... I feel like 4th best team is just within our grasp and if development goes right over the next 8 weeks...... who knows.
Honestly qualifying 11th here wouldn’t be a bad place to be at all. Overtaking is possible and pace on mediums is very good so might be a great place to start from.
They certainly do have the pace to be in the mix for q3. I’m still not sure where Alfa stand though with that screwed up session yesterday
Touch wood but going by Q1 it definately looks like the car was front limited last time out, traction heavy circuit with the new bb parts and it's going well...
