Max was defending, Ricciardo was dive bombing to overtake (and it was against Bottas who is cautious). Situations are quite different.mwillems wrote: ↑02 Apr 2019, 09:09Pretty much agree. But I recall Ricciardo divebombing bottas last year and it was hailed a great move. Similar move from Max I feel, if not a bit more risky.
For Norris I agree also. But public opinion can swing. This track rewards patience, but most do not. Daring overtakes that are judged to within 1% of safe are still needed and he will need to up his game once the rookie tag fades, and I hope he does. But there aren't that many talented overtakes.
Max is one less rush of blood to his head away from being a fantastic overtaker, or driver. Kid just needs to learn better when to keep his powder dry.
But still, he will need to learn to be more aggressive and make it work.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑02 Apr 2019, 09:47Max was defending, Ricciardo was dive bombing to overtake (and it was against Bottas who is cautious). For Norris, he talked after the race that he still does not have confidence to pull the big moves, he is still learning the car and race craft needed to race in Formula 1. In my opinion that is a really good attitude, he is a rookie, there is much to learn, by being a bit more cautious he gets to run full races with plenty of action. In this race he first had plenty of laps for practicing overtaking through the field (passed with flying colors) and then at the end had to nurse the car home with a possible brake issue and with a former world champion on his back. If he was more aggresive, he might have crashed early on and lost a great opportunity to learn.

every real expert says it wasn´t Max his fault, but it seems we need to to replace them with some of you guys
Max already hit the curbs, was on the racing line, Max could brake later, but hey keep taking those pills

Personally I don't trust experts. I have seen too many Know-it-all Experts and Max has caused too many incidents to just accept that it wasn't his fault.Capharol wrote: ↑02 Apr 2019, 11:06i wanna smoke what you guys have, maybe then i can blame Max aswell

I guess this is one of those arguments that no one will ever win, since it’s a matter of perspective... For me, Max isn’t “aggressive”, he is simply reckless and overdrives the car... He could have easily avoided the crash with Sainz and could have broke “at the normal braking point” and nothing would have happened, but his immaturity wins and he has the need to try to outbrake a car that has already taken control of the corner.mwillems wrote:But still, he will need to learn to be more aggressive and make it work.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑02 Apr 2019, 09:47Max was defending, Ricciardo was dive bombing to overtake (and it was against Bottas who is cautious). For me, Max had lost the place and went on the attack to get it back. He may have been defending but it soon turned into an attempted overtake on Sainz. He just was very quick to get right back on it. Fair play to him.
