Nothing on the halo.

Also, in a few of these photo you can see the difference in the span of the flap configuration between the pre-China FW (bottom) and the China FW (top), as Merc has brought both versions in low downforce spec:

It looks like they will be using FP1 as a testing session, to see what FW is best for the given track and tire conditions.

It'll be nice to have that flexibility over the course of the season.

It's definitely interesting. Ferrari & Mercedes seem to be polar opposite this year.Ferrari have a Lower drag lower down-force philosophy, while Mercedes has a higher drag, higher down-force philosophy.

Mercedes updates so far this year, all look to be about decreasing drag, while trying to maintain the same amount of down-force. Ferrari's updates seem to be about increasing down-force while trying to maintain the same amount of drag.

Personally, I'd rather be in Mercedes situation, as I think its easier to reduce drag, than it is to come up with down-force. Not to mention I also think its easier to trim back down-force, than it is to come up with more of it for any given track.

A few pages ago - Dans and I had a discussion around flow separation and serrations. Please refer to that.

Two different front wings. Intereseting

First one is more in line with what Ferrari's have. Interesting to see which one works best.

The new one (top) isn't Ferrari like, its just a low down-force derivative of the Mercedes philosophy. For it to be Ferrari like, the outboard sections of the elements would need to be substantially lower than the inboard sections.

As dans79 pointed out, they weren't going for a Ferrari style wing at all. They were just trying to energize and affect the outwash with some tweaks to the flaps and end plate cutout. Ferrari's outboard flaps fall away much, much more dramatically.

Also, they've run both of these wings already this season, just not in their lower downforce specifications.

Well that's a major revision on the endplates... Are we sure it's just for reducing drag and not a change in philosophy towards tapered flap arrangement?
