The loss of Honda's money... :( :(
We already knew it would be a big loss as soon as we even thought McLaren would sack Honda. That was around a year and a half ago? And you're surprised or upset why? Is this new news for you?

Just accounting, they need to have a loss to minimize taxes with an £96 Million loss from the Racing Division.....
Other then that McLaren is sound and healthy and back on its way to the top. They keep up like this and they end up before the Renault factory team.

To put it in another persepective. they had a £10 million drop in F1 prizemoney...and only and operational loss of £5 million....

More interesting is the confirmation that see Nidala (BVI) slowly & deliberately investing in the company, currently at 10% equity. (at £203.1 million)
One of these days N. Latifi will pop out of the (pit-)box.

Decent lap counts, 27 for Sainz and 32 for Norris. 7th and 10th on times respectively but we all know how innacurate the first practice session can be. Looking at the times it seems many teams were having issues getting their cars dialled in. 0.118 seconds separated 6th and 10th and a bigger gap of 0.606 to MAG/HAAS in 11th so so far it seems very tight....did I mention that (effectively) FP1 times are pretty much irrelevant though :D

Didn't get to watch the practice. How did McLaren look?

1st practice was a no go thabks to a manhole cover destroying a williams. supposedly they worked on testing new parts in the beginning of practice 2, then 7th and 10th on the time sheets. i havent seen any race pace numbers yet. seems like they got a good number of laps in though.

I realised that there was no official FP1, that's why I said effectively FP1 in so much as it was the first real practice that all the teams got. Did you manage to watch it? If so how did the car look visually?

Read on Amus Renault powered teams running at reduced power at Baku, upgraded engine likely for Barcelona. (reliability reasons) so far been a bit too aggressive with the engines, with the MGU-K being the biggest victim.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

lando looked a little twitchy, and they said that hes still working on getting the car under him. the track is extremely dusty though so cars were moving their back ends around a lot. so idk how it compares to everyone else. other than that, it is still orange.

At least they should have the K + Electronics right, of they want to be a serious EV manufacturer.

Norris was probably also taking it conservatively... Hitting a wall and losing precious seat time, especially considering that there was no FP1 makes absolute sense... His take on Baku seems similar to what he did in Melbourne and that turned out ok for him.

Where do you think the car stands at this point? Considering the Big Upgrade might be coming in Spain along with the Engine will we be able to clear the midfield?
