Suspected driveshaft issue. Maybe hitting some kerbs or even the wall. Shame... He was doing an excellent job :(

The reason his pace on mediums was good was because he finally had them in their operating window. It took him several laps after the pitstop before he was able to start decreasing the gap to VET. It took him longer than everyone else to warm them up. I suspect it is the rear tyres too that are the issue based on the behavior of the car after the VSC ended.

Early in the race Horner said they would have better pace on the mediums. That makes me wonder if RB are having trouble getting the softs into the operating window.

"I just did not come out well in the first corner and could not brake late because I had a car in front of me. I didn't lose a lot with that, I think," the Dutchman looks back at Ziggo Sport.

"We closed the gap to the top three and that went very well. We won eight seconds in the stint, but after the VSC I didn't get any more temperature in my tires.
Then you will no longer take the risk of trying to close the gap, because then you will hang it in the wall. A fourth place is pretty good in itself. Scoring points is now all we can do. "

At the next Grand Prix, that of Spain, Verstappen will have a new aerodynamic package on its RB15.
"I am curious what it will bring. Of course we are not the only one who brings an update, but hopefully ours is just a bit better than the competition."

I think VSC was unnecessary because Gasly pull the car safe place
Max Verstappen's bid for third place in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was reined in as a precautionary response to his Red Bull Formula 1 teammate Pierre Gasly's driveshaft failure.

"We struggled a little bit to get the warm-up going again, but after the failure that we'd seen with Pierre we didn't want to take too much risk," Red Bull team principal Christian Horner explained.

"It was a driveshaft failure and we don't know why, so having seen that we didn't want to take any unnecessary risks with Max. His third P4 in a row, it's always frustrating when you're the first place off the podium, but I thought he had a strong race today."

Verstappen thinks VSC period cost him podium shot

"I was catching up seven/eight seconds over that stint, so that was all good, but as soon as we got to the virtual safety car, I lost a lot of temperature," said Verstappen.

"It seems like our car is a maybe a bit more sensitive to that, or we're just not on top of the tyres. I don't know - otherwise we would've of course fixed that.

"It was a lot more difficult after that, I was just sliding a lot, and around here if you don't have the grip, you can't take the risk into the corner and you lose a lot of laptime."

Probably, but they can replace it free of penalty as he retired so they will stick a new one in.

that fuel flow regulation should be thrown out the window. The sensors have proven to be unreliable and if your restricting the amount of fuel the cars can use then why bother with such a system. It's not like the cars aren't already producing an amazing amount of power for the fuel they use.
Do you want to see 1600 hp car on qualy setting? Hell no.

It might burn the tyres up more creating more pit stops.

So, Barcelona- is this where we see a revised Red Bull where Newey addresses the initial shortcomings they have had over the opening 4 races?

What upgrades can we expect?

Horner said there would be nothing serious, the evolution of old elements.

I feel their updates will be significant. It would be great if Max can fight for the Driver's title at least.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.
