Mclaren fans are still trying to convince themselves that it was a great idea to damp Honda .Max was setting fastest lap after after fastest lap can Mclaren honestly match that if u think they are closer to third mclaren was racing torro rosso if kyvat didn't bin it he could have been within that midfield region. If redbull fix their tyre warmup issues they can fight for victories u can't say that for mac
Mclaren are faster than toro rosso and racing point here in baku the force india was always very fast because of the mercedes power in barcelona we will be behind the top 3 this car has a lot to deliver its a good car it need upgrades to get closer

mclaren dumped honda after having carried out a technical audit after the disastrous 17 winter test. It was that which led to a complete breakdown in trust. There was not really any option from there on. If honda have come good now, good for them, but they were far from blameless in what happened

Maybe you think it's related with Honda PU and not with have a +40% budget...

Btw, it's Toro Rosso and they falled lap after lap behind McLaren even with that great Honda PU at his cars!

Honda couldn't develop the engine with just one team, McLaren couldn't live as a testbed for Honda engines for years to come so obviously the decision was perfectly acceptable. Both Honda and McLaren are better off. McLaren can run with a decent engine that they do not need to develop and Honda got a testbed in Torro Rosso and now a strong front running team in Red Bull.

Only alternative would have been for McLaren to get a B team onto Honda, perhaps a junior team of their own but given the results of prior years this was not really feasible (I'm sure they could have got a B team if they were winning championship and rolling in sponsorship money).

Not sure why we need to debate this every race. Honda guys, get over it. Focus on TR/Red Bull. McLaren is fine with Renault.

That was the plan with Sauber taking Honda engines and Mclaren rear end, that got veto'd in the end.

Any recent whispers regarding what's been planned for Barcelona, how significant?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Only thing I'd heard recently was that the new floor had been pushed forwards for Barca, and the new brake bits we saw here in Baku.

Will the new wing finally show up in Barcelona?

It'd be the ideal circuit for it, so if they're pushing other parts forwards I'd assume so, I'll see what I can find out next week.

Is the engine confirmed? I haven’t found any actual quotes that they will be getting a new engine for Barcelona... New floor, potentially new rear wing and minor tweaks for the brakes... In testing the car struggled with rear instability, if that’s addressed, it will be interesting how much more performance they can extract from the car
