This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
The engine sounded weird from the onboard i checked, in his out lap there was those pops you hear when you have unburned fuel to your exhaust. That sounded really sexy yet i think it also means he may had lost a cylinder or something.
No. Very disappointing. Perhaps today they had issues but if these did not hinder them too much (and they don’t improve by heaps and bounds tomorrow) then this season is one of playing second fidel.
Shitty weekend so far. Miles off pace (especially long run) and problems on top. Seems only one car has the new bargeboards. That's something I cannot remember to have happened at RBR for a long time.
FP3 will show a bit more on where they are. Even then, it is what it is.
I think they don't remotely believe they'll be able to beat Merc and Ferrari this weekend,
so they probably have chosen to take what they can and aim for P5 and P6, and see what they can do in the meantime.
It's also not uncommon to have better and less competitive weekends for any team, so i'm not too worried.
Think it's safe to say anyway that they were never going to beat Merc for the championship this year anyway.
Next year might have better hopes. Nevertheless, they do need to find pace and find something to be able to win.
Their new engine provider may be excused, after all, it's the first season with Honda so i'd say cut them some slack.
After all, look where renault are right now, it's embarassing, especially after all their bragging.
I think after the summer break we could see some contineous improvement. untill then, it's still getting to know eachother more or less
and finding that sweet spot.
I do believe Gasly is the weakest link in the chain though.
