Lando Norris: "I am not really racing Max on track here [in F1], so maybe later on this season or next year we can have some more battles, but I already learned about him when I raced Max and we had some fun races together".

In McLaren still hope.
You're reading too much into it.
This is bad?
No he's just saying their cars don't compare in F1 like in sim and maybe later he gets that opportunity. There's no emphasis on the time-line.

Seems like he is saying he'll hope to battle with Max on track later in the season or next season.

But still, it's not a secret that we will want to push to have a few battles with Red Bull if we can. Perhaps Lando sees his car as a clear 4th best.

Anyone get word on the Renault engine updates, have the engines for Canada been postponed with everyone taking early changes for the more reliable/fixed units previously?

Cyril said Paul Ricard for Renault's car upgrades and unleashing full power. Unless McLaren try it out first in Canada.

Do you have any data or facts to dispute this? It’s basically in race trim where there is convergence. In qualifying, the others, especially Ferrari still has a substantial edge. If you take Baku as a case study, it would fall under the power tracks category. Renault teams were running their engines significantly detuned due reliability concerns. Racing Point, who are always strong there couldn’t pull away from the McLarens and had them in close company through out the race.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Not too long ago, we would have definitely lost that position, due to our overwhelmingly poor pit stops. They’ve come a long way.

So he's adding a bunch of Confusion with that statement. Sounds just like Publicity for Ricard.

They've already used 3 PUs for the season. To my understanding, only the last PU has the latest parts. I doubt that Renault will take a 4th PU, and the penalty that goes with it, at Ricard. If they do, it would be in Canada. I also doubt they used PU 3 in Monaco. More likely 1 of the 2 previous PUs (or both) depending on what the driver had available. They will likely be using the same PU in FP1 and 2 in Canada. For FP3, Quali and race they'll use PU 3. I'm sure they're gonna go full out in Q2 and Q3 for that 1 lap. Likely also at the start of the race. If they're in a points position during the race they'll use it to keep the point(s) or to increase points if that situation arises.

To my understanding the 1st 2 PUs could still go full out, just not for a prolonged period like you'd see in a race. I believe McLaren was using a Specific mapping to workaround the issue. Whether it has reduced revs or what's involved, I don't know.

If we could chose where to take penalties, where would it be?

Any track where passing was easy. Canada and Ricard would be good places.

Easily? on what planet do you live in they are not faster than Str ,Renault will soon solve the problems in fact they should have been ahead of other midfielders in Monaco if they got the strategy right. Racing point and Alfa are still very much in this game it's tight in the Mf
Personally, I think McLaren's biggest edge on the midfield are their points.
Disagree, Carlos suffered some bad luck in first GPs, so points could be even more. I think McLaren biggest edge is reliability. They´ve been in the battle for points constantly, while most midfielders have been strong at some tracks, but weak at some others
