Also THAT is why Bottas isn’t on Hamilton and Vettel’s level. He fell apart there.

Easy mistake tho. Hamilton putting it into the wall was far worse, but just at a better time.

He really seemed to struggle. Could be that once competition is at a higher level, he can't compete. He's been rejuvenated so far when Merc have apparently had it easy, maybe not so much when it's a bit tougher for them. We'll see, could be just a blip.

First pole in 17 races? Really been that long? Solid lap especially the first sector, he gained a massive two and a half tenths on Lewis at the end and got a nice distant toe from Charles too.

The real story here though is Bottas. He is beginning to tail off and Hamilton will soon begin to eat him up.

Merc was still the best on long runs so they are fav to win but at least we have a race to look forward to.

From a championship perspective though, Bottas better pull those socks up because Hamilton won't have any weekends like he's having right now.

Why they don't show telemetry on pole laps is mind boggling. What's the point of saying "so much faster on the straights" if you're not gonna show telemetry for the viewers to observe and complain during the live broadcast?

Ferrari with a bigger rear wing than Mercedes, but still faster on the straights.
What surprised me was that Vettel was just half a tenth shy of Hamilton’s time in sector 1.

Very happy for Ric, he kicked that out again. The diff by a top pilot. Great Job !

Yeah When Crofty said that Vettel is level with Hamilton in sector 1 I knew it was as good as over. Tremendous job by Vettel, Leclerc choking again when it mattered.

I think Hamilton did a good lap, but Vettel did the sort of lap he was regularly able to show with the Red Bull, just at one with his car taking everything out of it, and did a super job in a slightly faster car.

Ricciardo .3s ahead of Hulk, very good lap from him too. Gasly solid (though I expect Verstappen to have been ahead of RIC, only 0.008s in it after all!). Renault looking good (maybe the PU too now indeed, with their quali modes, seeing we have four of the PU's in Q3?

I think McLaren had hoped for a bit better, but not too bad, solid Q3 today. Leclerc (too?) far behind Vettel, I think he had the pace, but he's been flustered in quali ever since Baku, and Bottas, well., he needs to eat a good plate of oats for tomorrow to recover his 2.0 mojo!

Oh was that why Hamilton said sorry, missed that (my wife called just before Q3 end - she didn't know MAG delayed it ;)
