This is the best I have felt during a qualifying as a McLaren fan for years. It feels amazing. I understand the team has more to improve to take the fight for podiums and wins, but the upwards trend lately has been just joyful for me. Very glad for them, I hope they continue improving throughout the year. I was giggling like an idiot during the whole of qualifying, it was awesome. Hopefully we get some valuable points in the race tomorrow.

So to all the neighsayers. What happened? What went wrong for you? Wasn't Mclaren supposed to be fighting Williams for 9th place? What's this demon magic that made them beat Vettel and fight Verstappen head on while beating clearly that other Red Bull and destroying the midfield teams?

Points are given on Sunday... But, the improvement can’t be denied regardless of what happens tomorrow.

The great thing is that the team won’t be hampered by starting on the soft tires and hopefully will be close to the ones in front in terms of pace during the race.

You can overtake in this track and the Renault engine seems to be performing well, so there is still a chance to move up!

Ok guys spill it. Who used Demonic Magic on Mclaren to make them that fast? There is no way that the 2nd slowest team manages to beat Vettel, Gasly and fight Verstappen head on.

And to think that this is where it went downhill last year. Both cars out in Q1, no-where pace-wise during the race, a trend that continued on for most of 2018. They are so much better this time it is almost too good to be true. Major improvement for the car.

2018 = Alonso 1:32:9
2019 = Norris 1:29:4

Three and a half seconds. My god, -3.5 delta. What a huge difference.

In all seriousness now. Nobody after today can deny that a large step has been made and it is clear that we are outdeveloping the first three as we are reducing the gap.

No this is not outdeveloping this is just improving we were damn far last year so we recover half the distance remain 1 s to the front and its huge we are progressing that clear
