No this is not outdeveloping this is just improving we were damn far last year so we recover half the distance remain 1 s to the front and its huge we are progressing that clear
What I meant by outdeveloping is that our upgrades are reducing the gap between us and the first three. Not sure if I used the right term. Is outdeveloping used only when we are in front?

U just forgot that the front can't improve as the teams behind cause they are already near the limits but for mclaren its just keep improving by bringing parts every GP

Eu chorei mesmo. É muito bom ver a alegria nos boxes da McLaren. Caramba, que classificação de Lando Norris!
To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone. ― Bruce McLaren

So to all the neighsayers. What happened? What went wrong for you? Wasn't Mclaren supposed to be fighting Williams for 9th place? What's this demon magic that made them beat Vettel and fight Verstappen head on while beating clearly that other Red Bull and destroying the midfield teams?
Yeah, some guy actually wrote a couple of weeks back how the MCL34 was useless and James Key won’t take anything from it for the 35 next year. It will be tossed into the trash bin. What I’m most happy about is McLaren let all the negativity sail over their heads, they didn’t big themselves up talking about this upgrade coming, that upgrade coming... They just quietly got on with it. =D>
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

:D :D :D Well done Mclaren, good to see you back up at the sharp end. Looks to be a whole new 'lifestyle' at the team this year, leys hope it is a long term improvement.

I've been giggling away to myself like a little school girl for the past 30 mins. 10 years ago I would have been pretty miffed. Just shows you, enduring the bad times really helps you appreciate the good ones! Fingers crossed we can finish in similar positions tomorrow for a decent haul of points!

We have to be careful with those statements... Yes, in France we have outperformed the expectations and got closer to the front... Nevertheless, there are other factors that may be playing in our favor that aren’t directly related to the car development path (in this case, track temperature)... It would seem that high track temperatures favor the car’s design and makes it easier to get the tires in the right window (as in Bahrain for example), while some teams may suffer the hotter the track is.

There is improvement, the new front wing and suspension changes are all geared towards resolving the car weakness in Slow / Medium corners, so we know that they are working on it and there should be more improvement coming.

Very happy for McLaren, this was pure genuine pace, they were over 2 seconds off the pace last year, and have closed that gap to within a second. If they keep this trajectory and keep chipping away they'll be back to being the McLaren we remember in the 90's and 2000's.
Hope so, but those last few tenths will be very hard to find. But to fight for a few podiums next year? I would be happy with that.

very interesting analysis of the track by nicolas kiesa on danish tv, former f1 driver, he praised the track and said it shows of all qualities of a car, sector one is mechanical, suspension and everything chassis, sec2 is pu power and breaking, and sec3 is high speed, aero and aero effiency
