Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

In a recent AMuS video, Michael Schmidt mentioned that Merc were surprised that Ferrari did not have a power advantage in Q3 in France (unlike in Q2).

Seb thought it was either a change in the wind direction or that Merc finally unleashed the power of the Spec 2 engine after they ran it conservatively in Canada after Stroll's ICE failure (until the cause could be determined).

talking about that spark plug failure, has anyone seen anything about the misfire on Valtteri's engine last race? what it was?

edit in Canada on the Friday he had a misfire and it was a loss of fuel pressure

Why would Mercedes be surprised about that, if they knew they had run the PU conservatively until then?

Re-read what was posted!

Mercedes was surprised, Seb (Vettel) wasn't, he thought "it was either a change in the wind direction or that Merc finally unleashed the power of the Spec 2 engine after they ran it conservatively in Canada".

Why would they be doing this now? Have they brought an update?

I would have thought there have been much higher speed turns than here this season already?

Not that I'm aware of, but they might be wanting to ensure that when they do bring one the tire can't rub. For example maybe pushing the offset mounting point even further outward.

I'm slightly shocked by the TIG welds on the radiator, they look fairly sloppy.
