It's probably just a rumor and perhaps it's not that significant of an upgrade. Also it may be that the floor ties in to other upgrades and needs to be put on the car as a package. McLaren seems to err on the side of caution this year, and try to understand their upgrades before they bolt them on. I think that is a good approach (easy to say when the performance is decent even without rushing upgrades).

On sky they said they actually brought it to France, not sure if it is true or not

Apparently it was a test piece to work with the new front suspension, with replaceable front/teatray sections to try different parts. That's why it's 'too heavy' - but it's not going back to be lightened, it's just that they're waiting on the factory for a finalised single piece version, it's coming for Silverstone.
If it brings what they're hoping for with the floor, suspension and engine they might be able to worry Max a bit, which is why they've taken Spec-B engines too.
Will see what else I can find out next weekend.

You always give out great info on the updates of the car before they come out. Hopefully it works out the way they expect it to.

Now this does make sense. Especially given that they didn't use new suspension in France. If it needs to be a package and it's not ready, these type of tests validate the design and they can then make a few changes before testing it again. Hopefully the upgrade is decent and we take a step closer towards top 3 teams. Thanks for the info.

I like the more cautious approach. Right now McLaren have enough pace to keep 4th in constructors, but it's pretty much impossible to go beyond that. So it's better to validate all parts before introducing them, and hopefully they can end the year with a good package to maybe fight Red Bull, and perhaps fight for 3rd next season.

Compared to other cars it's really small. Not sure how big it is on Renault.

I think only Sainz will have them. They probably anticipated the car will get hot while Sainz is behind other people trying to overtake them that's why they opened it up a little. Mostly McLaren has been very confident on their cooling this year, and hasn't opened up slots over the sidepods like some other teams have.
