Quite a substantial gap between Lando and Carlos. I hope this points to, or confirms that the new parts are working well.
According to Sainz, the update gave about 0.2
About what they said they were expecting last weekend, so that's a good sign

Has to be a new title sponsor or engine switch. I hope both, but will be happy with either one. McLaren and Mercedes are a far better fit in my opinion, also commercially. Not saying Renault is doing a bad job, but it’s still Renault.
I hope it’s a title sponsor, I’m not too bothered with McLaren going back to Mercedes. There seems to be a synergy they’ve struck with Renault, the partnership is working. There’s so much time to find in the chassis, if that can be unlocked and Renault still haven’t found their way, I’m sure they’ll do all they can to support McLaren fighting the top 3
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Wait. Is that from Sainz’s floor upgrade or the whole shebang on Lando’s car?

Don't know for sure, but I thought that the Mercedes engine was better packaged. It's also more powerful, so it could help them both ways.

It could be for 2021, which would make more sense anyway considering the introduction of new rules.

This old chestnut ...

I’m not sure why McLaren would chase a Mercedes engine when they’ve got almost a works deal with Renault now. Being one of only two teams to use that engine they have so much more scope to improve and shape the engine using their input so unless they’ve got a genuine works deal with a new marque (or they take the plunge and build their own) I just don’t see it.

Another great Friday for the team though on another note. Probably the clearest indication so far that McLaren are out on their own from the midfield and are now genuinely bridging the gap to the top three. Race pace wasn’t far off Gasly and Vettel albeit only over 6-10 lap bursts so it’s hard to really be sure.

I will take the wildest guess out of you all. Porsche is going to enter in 2021, with Mclaren as their works team. Second chance for the Mclaren to repeat their glory days. :D
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Stability is what the team needs at the moment, even rumours of an engine deal wouldn't be wanted until right before a change, and by that time who knows where the Renault will be, it's a pretty decent unit atm.

Back then, during the glory days of McLaren TAG-Porsche, there was no road car division of McLaren, they are direct competitors now. Not sure it’ll work.

If its engine deal perhaps BMW. Pretty clear water between them and mclaren automotive. With automotive's hybrid plans perhaps even a flight of fancy and speculate that it ties in with a long term road car engine partnership!
