RAI looking very quick though. Need to count on Haas dropping off in the race as usual. And rain. Going to be a fun race!

We hope for a good pace in the race. Lando will have a hard time.

Q3 time still slower than Q2... Really odd
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Given how email the gaps are in the midfield, I don't think it will be a procession. Lando can make his way through

I think the wind changed direction for about 10 minutes. I think it was coming from the north at 2KM and changed to coming from the east @ 2KM.
No idea how much of a difference that would make.

It was just a really good lap. His first attempt in Q3 was poor, which probably meant he couldn't give everything in his second run.

Everybody did a magic lap not just Sainz. Did you notice nobody, in the midfield, matched their Q2 time in Q3 by a large margin?

That was a Lazenby gaff. He announced that on the Sky broadcast but the F1 tool clearly showed Sainz had new tires.

Gutted for Lando, it will be a tough race from the back of the grid... Carlos did a great job considering that it seems they have struggled all weekend so far.

This race it’s very important for the team since Hungary should be an even tougher challenge and you don’t want to go into the summer brake with negative momentum.

A wet race could make things interesting and could play into our advantage.

we're in trouble this weekend i dont think we will reach Q3 this week end dry or wet
Guess you were quite wrong. Carlos made a solid drive to Qualy P7. Lando has been struggling all weekend, let's hope that strategy and good race pace can bring him into the points.

The only reason I'm quoting this post is to show how it's very hard to judge pace based on FP1 and FP2 when there is such a difference in temperature from practice day to qualy/race day.

Usually the midfield teams have 5 sets of new prime tires available for qualifying... They are forced to use 4 sets to try and get into Q3 and use a set of old/used tires for their first runs in Q3... At least that has been the tendency for most races this year.

I can only tell you what the F1 tool showed. At the same time LeClerc was in the garage on used tires and his line in the tool was right above or below Sainz. I just presumed his went across and saw used tires on LeClerc and thought that was Sainz's line.

I went back into the f1 tool to analyse.... Ican see in Q1, Sainz did 2 runs on the same set of softs, that is why he had an xtra set of softs for Q3.
