The Woking team will try to continue improving and staying in that fourth position of builders that it has consolidated after A great first half of the season completed to date.
Waiting to see if McLaren will introduce aerodynamic developments in the MCL34 chassis, Renault works at the Viry-Châtillon factory in the third specification of its engine, a propeller that will have 15 more horsepower and will premiere at the Grand Prix of Belgium, presumably.
This improvement will mean that the French power unit will reach up to 975 real horsepower that McLaren will have available in one of the next two races of the Formula 1 calendar, although sources close to the team anticipate that only an MCL34 and an RS19 will mount the new power unit and will do so in Belgium, to avoid unnecessary penalties if the third specification does not grant the expected values.
“The improvement we wanted to achieve for 12 months in terms of the engine was 50 kW. We have achieved 40 and we intend to put another 10 throughout the season, ”says Cyril Abiteboul, CEO of Renault Sport Racing.
