DOD (Double Overdrive)

Post

Hello everyone, new to the board here.

I would like to ask a question for those of you who really like to see new products comming into the auto industry. Now to my question:

How would I be able to submit a new type of tranny that I am working on. This tranny would be a DOD or as the subject title has in parenthesis Double Overdrive. How would I be able to get this type of technology into the mainstream? Any other ideas to make this avaliable to the general public?

Thanks for your time,
Gear

Humm...so you designed/built something new....

First you should register the patent before trying to contact anyone, cause they might try to steal the idea from you! After having it registered try contacting somekind of tunning garage or warehouse that might become interested in your "invention", so that it can get some exposeur. After getting an article or 2 in magazines you can try contacting car manufacters.

Or you can just contact them before putting it into tunning cars.....but probably they won't look at it carefully without it being proved on the road.

When presenting it to someone try to make a presentation in 2 parts...one from a engineering point of view...to show them you know what your talking about and a customers point of view.....advantages, cost, maintenance costs, market study, etc.

what does "double overdrive" do? I assume its an automatic transmission part... is it revolutionary or evolutionary concept?

Hi guys I have to log off now, church time.

Thanks for your imput guys, Im still looking for a way to put it all together. It is more of an Evolutionary design really. I still have other things to figure out, should it be manual, sequential, or auto. There is much work to be done.

Thanks again,
Gear

It sounds like an interesting idea, how does it work? What exactally does it do?

For those of you that are interested: I have begun to develop and put the design on paper. So far I need to redesign a few parts due to problems in shifting capabilities. I'll get back to you all in about 30 days on how its going.

Thanks Gear

Quick Heads up!

Post

First off I would like to let you know that develpment is ahead of the proposed time frame. These are the current developments.

1: This will be a manual drive train

2: I have made the desision to make it a tourqe-less transmission.

3: I believe the roll-back problem has been solved for manual drive trains.

4: I am working on the automatic version, although I am having serious problems with one part. It is currently the valve body.

5: I am now looking for parts to start putting this idea together.

I will keep you all posted as development continues. I would have posted earlier; however, I could not get to the Library over the weekend.

Thanks,
Gear

Currently: Lost Finacial Support (aka my blasted Just Over Broke "JOB")
Currently: Just need my parts to build this sucker. I also need a testing platform. Most likley I will use a Go-Kart. I currently have 2 Lawnmower Engines that need to be fixed. One needs a new magneto and the other has a choke/carburator problem.

Design Goals are as follows:
1. Increase Final Drive Speed
2. Reach a minimum of 45mph in 1st gear
3. Four Speed
4. Final Drive Speed to be 150mph+

Other Goals:
1. Not to crash or burn durring testing
2. Not to die durring testing
