Renault F1 R.S. 19

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Good to see Renault putting efforts into trying to strengthen the Y250 vortex! =D>

One of the most clever interpretations of the 5-element rule seen on the grid too.

At 0:23, what's coming off the bottom of Hulk's Renault (around the plank)?

Dust, probably from outside the track

That was my initial thought, but wouldn't the dust blow off almost instantly when the force of the wind rose above the adhesion level and be more widespread across the floor? Given the lateral motion Hulk's car seems to have, wouldn't we also see small trails from other parts?

I could very easily be over thinking this. Occam's razor suggests you are totally correct.

So any idea which exact rules prohibit the rumoured automatic brake bias? The one that comes to me instantly is

8.6.3 Any alteration of the driver’s controls may only be commanded by direct, deliberate and primary driver actions
I'm wondering if Renault consider the driver zeroing the distance on the start line with a button on the wheel as a "direct, deliberate and primary driver action"

Brake dust from the front wheels which is transported by the y250-type and other vortices perhaps?
