Machin, for the new rules, am I right that it is not a must to have bodywork all around the new floor part? I. E. Some of the floor part can be exposed right?

Also, there's no need to make a gearbox housing now is there?

The gearbox can be completely visible... the crash structure part MUST be visible (it’s outside the legality volume).

You don’t have to add anything to the edges of the floor... nor do you need to have a diffuser... but the MVRC floor part itself will be used in the CFD simulation... so the floor on EVERY car must have the standard portion coloured red below:

hopefully will be submitting this tomorrow

just need to run a simulation tonight to verify the changes I've made. if it doesn't work out, I've got a slightly older car which is still reasonable, but with a lot worse modelling

I think we should have some saying about changes like this big on mid season. That floor change litteraly destroyed all the gains i made after i submited my singapore car, thats 2 weeks of work.

The floor part was ALWAYS in the mandatory parts list (rule 4.1). So there has been no change to the rules in that area.

Andre did tell me that your car didn’t use the standard floor and I wanted to apply a penalty... but he felt the rules weren’t totally clear.... every other car was compliant so I disagreed somewhat with that conclusion... but we agreed to change the wording in the rules (“floor-guide” is now just “floor”), and try and make it a bit more explicit that the MVRC floor part would be used in the CFD analysis.

So we gave you the benefit of the doubt last time and didn’t apply a penalty, but now we have to be fair to everyone else and apply the rules strictly.

Quick question. Do the parts have to fit in the design volumes before or after the rake is applied?

Before; (effectively the volumes would be rotated with the car).

I am spending way too much time on this. :)
I guess there is another easy half second in there somewhere, but the family complains.

Team Baltic Suzuka submission.

Yes, it is way too easy to do that! ...I am lucky; my computer is so bad that there is no point even trying to run my own CFD simulations... I think this has saved me!

Interesting sidepod-less design! My thoughts are that this solution will have very high drag... will be interesting to see if it works...

I am getting CdA of ~1.23 with this. As I said, fiddling another night will probably improve this. There are still some separation regions, I would like to get rid of.

Rake angle has done nothing for my design, btw.

..I think “~” in this case is used to mean “approximately”... 😊👍
