Sainz is really on it.

I agree that the strategy should have been Sainz P11. Almost guaranteed after that medium tire run.

The only thing you can hope for is possibly staying with the leaders and dropping the medium shod cars quickly. If they can stay in range during the first few laps then it’s going to backfire badly

But saying that: I’m mightily impressed by Sainz. He’s been in the form of his life. Hardly any mistakes and lightning quick

And another thing, as the altitude nullifies engine differences it’s clear to see we are around 1 Sec down with max df on the car. Quite clear what they mean when they say they want a 0.5s leap closing that gap to around 0.5-0.8s a lap

Top qualifying! Race tomorrow with TR will be great. I wonder if 11th placed Perez on mediums, and those after, will have too great an advantage.

Only TR will be on softs with us. P11 onwards will all start on mediums pretty much guaranteed

Congratulations to the team. And I think that it’s worth trusting their decision regarding rubber. They predict 2-3 pit stops in the race, plus the appearance of a safety car is possible, so starting on a medium does not guarantee anything.

Carlos hit traffic on his first Q2 run on mediums, said he lost time there. He could have made it through on mediums. I hope they can have a good strategy tomorrow.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Heard about Bottas crash, thankfully he’s OK, but does it look like he’ll need a new gear box?

Maybe a new chassis & pit-lane start as well.

in the end ~half a second was missing though, so it would have needed a massive lap, I'd say. Even on softs he was just 4 tenths clear, and yesterday Albert Fabrega stated that the gap between the tires is something around 0,9s.

It will definitely be interesting tomorrow... The problem with the tire selection is that it will definitely make them stop sooner on the stint, especially if they try to build a gap to the ones behind in the first 10-12 laps... With the ones in Mediums going longer, they will most probably be caught in traffic and the car doesn’t seem to be setup for high top speed and that could be an issue during the race to get the necessary overtakes.

Regardless, it is awesome to get both cars on P7-P8... Continuing to be best of the rest!
